HPLC determination of phenolic compounds in different solvent extracts of mulberry leaves and antioxidant capacity of extracts

open access: yesInternational Journal of Food Properties, 2021
The antioxidant activities and phenolic contents of mulberry leave extracts obtained by aqueous mixture of acetone, ethanol and methanol were determined. Both alkaline hydrolysis and acid hydrolysis were used to extract bound phenolics.

Soluble Free, Esterified and Insoluble-Bound Phenolic Antioxidants from Chickpeas Prevent Cytotoxicity in Human Hepatoma HuH-7 Cells Induced by Peroxyl Radicals

open access: yesAntioxidants, 2022
Chickpeas are rich sources of bioactive compounds such as phenolic acids, flavonoids, and isoflavonoids. However, the contribution of insoluble-bound phenolics to their antioxidant properties remains unclear.

Structural Variations of Broccoli Polyphenolics and Their Antioxidant Capacity as a Function of Growing Temperature

open access: yesPlants
Polyphenolics in plants exist in free, soluble-bound, and insoluble-bound structural forms. The concentration of these structural forms depends on the plant’s developmental stage, tissue type, soil water availability, and food preparation methods.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Identification of Discriminant Factors after Exposure of Maize and Common Bean Plantlets to Abiotic Stresses

open access: yesNotulae Botanicae Horti Agrobotanici Cluj-Napoca, 2015
Adverse environmental conditions limit crop yield and better understanding of plant response to stress will assist the development of more tolerant cultivars.

ODC-free solvent implementation for phenolics cleaning [PDF]

open access: yes37th Joint Propulsion Conference and Exhibit, 2001
During phenolic liner manufacture, resin-impregnated (pre-preg) bias tape of silica, glass, or carbon cloth is tape-wrapped, cured, machined, and then wiped with 1,1,1 tri-chloroethane (TCA) to remove contaminants that may have been introduced during machining and handling. Following the TCA wipe, the machined surface is given a resin wet-coat and over-

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

The Comparison of the Profile of Phenolic Compounds in Noni (Morinda citrifolia L.) Fruit by Different Drying Methods

open access: yesFoods
In this study, the compositional shifts in free and bound phenolic compounds of Morinda citrifolia L. (Noni) processed by different drying methods were investigated. Twenty-seven phenolic compounds, predominantly rutin and quinic acid, were discovered in
