Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Preservation of algebraicity in free probability [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We show that any matrix-polynomial combination of free noncommutative random variables each having an algebraic law has again an algebraic law. Our result answers a question raised by a recent paper of Shlyakhtenko and Skoufranis. The result belongs to a

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Free vibration of beams using stochastic finite element method considering three-dimensional randomness of material properties

open access: yesForces in Mechanics
This study presents the development of the stochastic finite element method (SFEM) to investigate the random free vibrations of beams with three-dimensional (3D) random field of material properties.

Degree-degree correlations in random graphs with heavy-tailed degrees [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We investigate degree-degree correlations for scale-free graph sequences. The main conclusion of this paper is that the assortativity coefficient is not the appropriate way to describe degree-dependences in scale-free random graphs.

On the multiplication of operator-valued c-free random variables [PDF]

open access: yesColloquium Mathematicum, 2018
We discuss some results concerning the multiplication of non-commutative random variables that are c-free with respect to a pair $( Φ, φ) $, where $ Φ$ is a linear map with values in some Banach or C$^\ast$-algebra and $ φ$ is scalar-valued. In particular, we construct a suitable analogue of the Voiculescu's $ S $-transform for this framework.

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

On the multiplication of free N -tuples of noncommutative random variables

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Mathematics, 1996
Let a 1 ,..., a n , b 1 ,..., b n be random variables in a noncommutative probability space, such that { a 1 ,..., a n } is free from { b 1 ,..., b n }. We show how the joint distribution of the n -tuple ( a 1 b 1 ,..., a n b n ) can be described in terms of the joint distributions of ( a 1 ,..., a n ) and ( b 1 ,..., b n ), by using the combinatorics

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...
