PICALM::MLLT10 translocated leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This comprehensive review of PICALM::MLLT10 translocated acute leukemia provides an in‐depth review of the structure and function of CALM, AF10, and the fusion oncoprotein (1). The multifaceted molecular mechanisms of oncogenesis, including nucleocytoplasmic shuttling (2), epigenetic modifications (3), and disruption of endocytosis (4), are then ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Influence of Free Surface on the Hydrodynamic and Acoustic Characteristics of a Highly Skewed Propeller

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
The noise analysis of a large-scale aquaculture vessel reveals that during its navigation, the primary equipment noise, particularly from the propeller, exerts a notable influence on the aquaculture environment for large yellow croaker.

Numerical Analysis of Influence of the Hull Couple Motion on the Propeller Exciting Force Characteristics

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2019
The numerical calculation was performed for the KRISO Container Ship (KCS) hull-propeller-rudder system with different freedom hull motion by employing the Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) method and adopting the overset grid.

Mass-velocity and size-velocity distributions of ejecta cloud from shock-loaded tin surface using atomistic simulations

open access: yes, 2015
The mass (volume and areal densities) versus velocity as well as the size versus velocity distributions of a shock-induced cloud of particles are investigated using large scale molecular dynamics (MD) simulations.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Confrontation Between Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics and Unsteady Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes Methods for a Sinking Rigid Body [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics
In this article, we present detailed numerical results concerning the hydrodynamic behavior of two distinct rigid bodies; a cylinder and a wedge; interacting with a free water surface.

Anomalous Quasiparticle Reflection from the Surface of a $^3$He-$^4$He Dilute Solution

open access: yes, 2017
A free surface of a dilute $^3$He-$^4$He liquid mixture is a unique system where two Fermi liquids with distinct dimensions coexist: a three-dimensional (3D) $^3$He Fermi liquid in bulk and a two-dimensional (2D) $^3$He Fermi liquid at the surface.

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.
