External cavity diode lasers and non-linear optical frequency conversion in spectroscopic applications

open access: yes, 2006
Semiconductor diode lasers are successful tools in atomic spectroscopy. They are routinely used in frequency conversion applications to develop devices that access regions of the spectrum not directly available.

MIMO precoding for filter bank modulation systems based on PSVD [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In this paper we consider the design of a linearly precoded MIMO transceiver based on filter bank (FB) modulation for transmission over broadband frequency selective fading channels.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Unveiling the Extremely Low Frequency Component of Heart Rate Variability

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Heart rate variability (HRV) comprises several components driven by various internal processes, the least understood of which is the ultra-low frequency (ULF) one. Recently published research has shown that the HRV frequency distribution in this range is

Range-resolved interferometric signal processing using sinusoidal optical frequency modulation.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2015
A novel signal processing technique using sinusoidal optical frequency modulation of an inexpensive continuous-wave laser diode source is proposed that allows highly linear interferometric phase measurements in a simple, self-referencing setup. Here, the

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Semiconductor loss calculation of DC–DC modular multilevel converter for HVDC interconnections

open access: yesHigh Voltage, 2018
DC–DC modular multilevel converter (DC–DC MMC) is an attractive candidate for high-voltage DC (HVDC) interconnections since it can provide the required voltage matching, galvanic isolation and flexible power control abilities.

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Critical modulation frequency and critical band based on random amplitude and frequency changes

open access: yesArchives of Acoustics, 2014
The presented paper deals with determination of the critical modulation frequency (CMF) and critical bandwidth in the case of random amplitude and frequency changes in a sinusoidal signal.

Characterization of frequency drift of sampled-grating DBR laser module under direct modulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The authors demonstrate the drift in frequency of a static sampled-grating distributed Bragg reflector (SG DBR) laser module when it is subjected to direct modulation.
