The XPS depth profiling and tribological characterization of ion-plated gold on various metals [PDF]
Friction properties were measured with a gold film; the graded interface between gold and nickel substrate; and the nickel substrate. All sliding was conducted against hard silicon carbide pins in two processes.

Hydrogen‐Assisted Fracture of Iron‐Based Fe–Ni–Al Alloys
Principal relations and fracture mechanisms of single‐phase and precipitate‐strengthened Fe–Ni–Al alloys subjected to prior electrochemical hydrogen charging are identified. The mechanisms of hydrogen effect on strength and microhardness are discussed, including hydrogen‐induced increase in microhardness and the role of hydrogen in fracture behavior ...

Validation of Friction Model Parameters Identified Using the IHB Method Using Finite Element Method
A hybrid friction model was recently developed by Azizian and Mureithi (2013) to simulate the friction behavior of tube-support interaction. However, identification and validation of the model parameters remains unresolved. In previous work, the friction

Tribomaterial factors in space mechanism brake performance [PDF]
The asbestos/phenolic pads of Shuttle Remote Manipulator System (SRMS) brakes are unsuitable for use in long life space mechanisms because their friction decreases on extended sliding in high vacuum.

Bioinspired Shape‐Memory Hook Fasteners With Programmable Interlocking and Silent Release
Bioinspired hook fasteners made from epoxy shape‐memory polymers are shown to switch between strong, secure attachment and gentle, silent release when heated. By combining programmable geometry and material response, these adaptive fasteners outperform commercial systems in strength and noise control, enabling new solutions for robotics, medical ...

This plot compares experimental tensile stress–strain curves (with 4 different strain rates) and corresponding modelled curves (obtained using the optimised sets of Voce and Miller–Norton parameter values shown). The inferred M‐N values, characterizing the creep, are very similar to those obtained via conventional creep testing.

Friction and deformation behavior of single-crystal silicon carbide [PDF]
Friction and deformation studies were conducted with single-crystal silicon carbide in sliding contact with diamond. When the radius of curvature of the spherical diamond rider was large (0.3), deformation of silicon carbide was primarily elastic.

Stretching the Printability Metric in Direct‐Ink Writing with Highly Extensible Yield‐Stress Fluids
This study introduces “drawability” as a new metric for assessing printability in direct‐ink writing, focusing on gap‐spanning performance and speed robustness. By designing yield‐stress fluids with high extensibility, we demonstrate that extensional strain‐to‐break significantly enhances printability.
