From Mechanoelectric Conversion to Tissue Regeneration: Translational Progress in Piezoelectric Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights recent progress in piezoelectric materials for regenerative medicine, emphasizing their ability to convert mechanical stimuli into bioelectric signals that promote tissue repair. Key discussions cover the intrinsic piezoelectric properties of biological tissues, co‐stimulation cellular mechanisms for tissue regeneration, and ...

The polarity protein VANG-1 antagonizes Wnt signaling by facilitating Frizzled endocytosis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Signaling that instructs the migration of neurons needs to be tightly regulated to ensure precise positioning of neurons and subsequent wiring of the neuronal circuits.

Secreted frizzled‐related protein 2 promotes the osteo/odontogenic differentiation and paracrine potentials of stem cells from apical papilla under inflammation and hypoxia conditions

open access: yesCell Proliferation, 2019
Mesenchymal stem cell (MSC)‐based dental tissue regeneration is a potential treatment method in future, while inflammation and hypoxia niche will affect MSC‐mediated tissue regeneration.

Accurate Delivery of Mesenchymal Stem Cell Spheroids With Platelet‐Rich Fibrin Shield: Enhancing Survival and Repair Functions of Sp‐MSCs in Diabetic Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Autologous plasma‐derived platelet‐rich fibrin (PRF) is prepared as a protective shield for mesenchymal stem cell spheroids (Sp‐MSCs). PRF forms a fibrin shield to protect Sp‐MSCs from the oxidative stress environment. The nutrients in PRF, particularly the α‐granules, can enhance the repair function of Sp‐MSCs.

Wnt Signaling in Neural Crest Ontogenesis and Oncogenesis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Neural crest (NC) cells are a temporary population of multipotent stem cells that generate a diverse array of cell types, including craniofacial bone and cartilage, smooth muscle cells, melanocytes, and peripheral neurons and glia during embryonic ...

Xenopus frizzled-4S, a splicing variant of Xfz4 is a context-dependent activator and inhibitor of Wnt/β-catenin signaling

open access: yesCell Communication and Signaling, 2005
Background Secreted Frizzled related proteins (SFRPs) are extracellular regulators of Wnt signaling. These proteins contain an N-terminal cysteine rich domain (CRD) highly similar to the CRDs of the Frizzled family of seven-transmembrane proteins that ...

Wnt Binding Affinity Prediction for Putative Frizzled-Type Cysteine-Rich Domains

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2019
Several proteins other than the frizzled receptors (Fzd) and the secreted Frizzled-related proteins (sFRP) contain Fzd-type cysteine-rich domains (CRD).

Frizzled-7 is required for Xenopus heart development [PDF]

open access: yesBiology Open, 2017
Wnt signalling regulates cardiogenesis during specification of heart tissue and the morphogenetic movements necessary to form the linear heart. Wnt11 mediated non-canonical signalling promotes early cardiac development whilst Wnt11-R, which is expressed later, also signals through the non-canonical pathway to promote heart development.

Novel Para‐Phenylenediamine‐Based Derivatives as Receptor Tyrosine Kinase‐like Orphan Receptor 1 (ROR1) Inhibitors: An In Vitro Preliminary Characterization

open access: yesChemMedChem, EarlyView.
ROR1 represents a promising target for the development of novel antiproliferative compounds, giving its high expression in different cancer cell lines. The present study describes the workflow leading to the design, synthesis, and characterization of a series of para‐phenylenediamine‐based compounds able to interact with the target kinase, inhibiting ...

A Non-canonical Wnt Signature Correlates With Lower Survival in Gastric Cancer

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2021
Genetic evidence suggests a role for the Wnt/β-catenin pathway in gastric cancer. However, Wnt5a, regarded as a prototypical non-canonical Wnt ligand, has also been extensively associated with this disease.
