Technical Feasibility Study of Autonomous Field Robot‐Based on‐the‐go Assessment of Soil Nutrients Using Ion‐Sensitive Field‐Effect Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Autonomous field robots equipped with ISFET‐based sensors enable rapid, spatially resolved soil nutrient analysis directly in the field. An automated system based on the BoniRob platform is presented for standardized on‐site extraction and measurement of key macronutrients and soil pH.

Bio‐Inspired Object Retrieval via Proximity‐Guided Adaptive Thigmotactic Exploration and Neuromorphic Recognition

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Sparse active‐infrared proximity sensing is coupled to an adaptive thigmotactic controller for camera‐inaccessible object retrieval. After grasping, receptor‐informed encoding transforms force, temperature, and wrist force–torque signals into spike trains for spiking neural network recognition.

Munchy Monster: Using video gaming to objectively evaluate front‐of‐pack labelling strategies for school‐aged children

open access: yesPackaging technology & science, 2019
Marketers have long targeted children in an attempt to influence food purchases. This is not the case for regulators; nutrition information is complex, using decimal places, percentages, and units of measure.
