Polysaccharides from the Cell Walls of Pineapple Fruit

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 1995
Cell wall material from pineapple fruit was obtained and sequentially extracted with 50 mM NaOH at 2°C, 1 M KOH at 2 and 20°C, and 4 M KOH at 20°C. From the 4 M KOH-soluble fraction, a >neutral> polysaccharide and an acidic one were isolated by chloride anion exchange chromatography.

Characterization of Fruit Quality Attributes and Cell Wall Metabolism in 1-Methylcyclopropene (1-MCP)-Treated ‘Summer King’ and ‘Green Ball’ Apples During Cold Storage

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2019
This study aimed to elucidate whether 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) treatment delays the fruit softening mechanism associated with the fruit quality of the newly released apple cultivars “Summer King” and “Green Ball” during cold storage.

Functional characterization of a tomato COBRA-like gene functioning in fruit development and ripening

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology, 2012
Background Extensive studies have demonstrated that the COBRA gene is critical for biosynthesis of cell wall constituents comprising structural tissues of roots, stalks, leaves and other vegetative organs, however, its role in fruit development and ...

Molecular Events Occurring During Softening of Strawberry Fruit

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2019
Changes in fruit texture taking place during ripening, described as softening, are mainly due to alterations in structure and/or composition of the cell wall.

Transcriptome profiling helps to elucidate the mechanisms of ripening and epidermal senescence in passion fruit (Passiflora edulia Sims).

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
Passion fruit (Passiflora edulia Sims), an important tropical and subtropical species, is classified as a respiration climacteric fruit, and its quality deteriorates rapidly after harvest.

Effects of NO Fumigation on Cell Wall Metabolism in Lycium barbarum Fresh Fruit under Cold Storage

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji, 2022
To explore the effect of NO fumigation on cell wall metabolism in Lycium barbarum fresh fruit under cold storage, “Ningqi No. 7” fresh Lycium barbarum fruit was used as the test material, and fumigated with 300 μL/L (0 μL/L NO as control) NO gas for 3 h,

Effects of calcium on cell wall metabolism enzymes and expression of related genes associated with peel creasing in Citrus fruits [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ, 2022
Fruit peel creasing is a serious pre-harvest physiological disorder in citrus, influencing fruit quality, storage, and yield. Four- and eight-year-old ‘Hongjiang’ oranges grafted onto Canton lemon rootstocks were treated with calcium and calcium ...
