Tips, Tricks, and Guides in Descemet Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty Learning Curve

open access: yesJournal of Ophthalmology, 2021
Lamellar keratoplasty is fast becoming the most popular form of corneal transplantation. The adoption of Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) in the management of Fuchs endothelial dystrophy and pseudophakic bullous keratopathy is partly ...

Presbyopia Correction in Lens Replacement Surgery: A Review

open access: yesClinical &Experimental Ophthalmology, Volume 53, Issue 6, Page 668-681, August 2025.
ABSTRACT Presbyopia affects approximately 1.8 billion individuals globally, posing significant challenges as life expectancy and near‐vision demands, particularly with mobile phone use, grow. Addressing presbyopia during lens replacement surgery has become a key focus for cataract surgeons, aiming to reduce dependence on corrective eyewear. This review

Cataract Surgery in the Small Adult Eye: A Review

open access: yesClinical &Experimental Ophthalmology, Volume 53, Issue 5, Page 558-569, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Modern cataract surgery continues to advance, yet intraocular lens (IOL) based surgery in the small adult eye remains challenging. Thorough preoperative assessment and surgical preparation optimise postoperative outcomes in these cases. Advances in IOL power calculation, including artificial intelligence‐driven formulas, improve accuracy ...

Canine corneal endothelial cell analysis using vital dyes and light microscopy

open access: yesVeterinary Ophthalmology, Volume 28, Issue 4, Page 675-682, July 2025.
Abstract Purpose To evaluate the use of vital dyes and light microscopy for assessing canine corneal endothelial morphology ex vivo. Methods The corneas of 40 canine eyes (n = 20 dogs) enucleated <24 h following euthanasia or death were isolated and flat‐mounted on a slide. Corneal endothelium was stained via 0.25% trypan blue followed by 0.5% alizarin

Characterisation of the role played by ELMO1, GPR141 and the intergenic polymorphism rs918980 in Fuchs' dystrophy in the Indian population

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 15, Issue 5, Page 822-835, May 2025.
This study reports the upregulation of ELMO1 and GPR141 in human Fuchs' endothelial corneal dystrophy (FECD) corneal endothelium and ultraviolet A‐induced FECD mice model. A genetic association of an intergenic single nucleotide polymorphism rs918980 present between both genes is observed with FECD in the Indian population.

Graft detachment rates in surgeon‐cut and pre‐cut tissue for DSAEK transported in different mediums

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, Volume 103, Issue 3, Page 281-288, May 2025.
Abstract Purpose To analyse graft detachment rates after Descemet stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK) using surgeon‐cut grafts and pre‐cut grafts transported in different mediums. Methods A retrospective study of graft detachment rates including 265 surgeries (240 patients) performed between 2019 and 2023.
