Flexural Performance of Steel–Normal Concrete–Ultra-High-Performance Concrete Composite Slabs with Steel Ribs

open access: yesBuildings
For steel–concrete composite bridges, the cracking of concrete in the tensile zone influences the serviceability of bridges and decreases their durability.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

EPS foam blast attenuation in full-scale field test of reinforced concrete slabs

open access: yesActa Scientiarum: Technology, 2019
Predicting explosion parameters is an important step when planning for blast tests or the design of blast resistant buildings. This paper presents a comparison of recorded pressure that was reflected on the surface of reinforced concrete slabs with and ...

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

Characterisation of recycled mixed plastic solid wastes : Coupon and full-scale investigation

open access: yes, 2016
In Australia, the plastic solid waste (PSW) comprises 16% by weight of municipal solid waste but only about one-fourth are recycled. One of the best options to increase the recycling rate of mixed PSW is to convert them into products suitable for ...

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Reduction of methane emission from landfills using bio-mitigation systems – from lab tests to full scale implementation

open access: yes, 2014
Landfills are significant sources of methane, which contributes to climate change. As an alternative to mitigation by gas utilization systems, bio-mitigation systems may be implemented.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Experimental Study on Sealing Failure of Cement Sheath in Gas Storage Wells

open access: yesShiyou jixie
Cyclic injection and production of gas would cause cyclic loads on the cement sheath of gas storage wells, which can easily lead to the sealing failure of cement sheath. In the paper, against the background of sealing failure of cement sheath in H gas ...

Full-Scale Pseudo-Dynamic Test for Bridge Retrofitted With Seismic Isolations

open access: yesThe Baltic Journal of Road and Bridge Engineering, 2008
This paper presents the performance of a retrofitted bridge with a seismic isolation. To validate the seismic performance of retrofitted bridge experimentally, four full-scale reinforced concrete bridge piers with fixed support conditions were fabricated
