Synthesis and Characterization of Dummy Template‐Based Molecularly Imprinted Polymers for Extraction of Aflatoxins in Food Samples

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 22, Issue 12, December 2025.
Five dummy templates and two functional monomers were systematically evaluated for the preparation of selective MIPs for aflatoxins. 5,7‐Dimethoxycoumarin and methacrylic acid were found to produce highly selective MIPs, and the adsorbent was characterized by FTIR, TGA, and SEM.

The antagonistic effects of Candida parapsilosis on the growth of Fusarium species and fumonisin production

open access: yesCurrent Medical Mycology, 2016
Background and Purpose: Fusarium species are avid producers of secondary toxic and carcinogenic metabolites such as fumonisin. Contamination of food and feed products with fumonisin can be hazardous to the health of humans and animals and may lead to ...

Monoculture Maize (Zea mays L.) Cropped Under Conventional Tillage, No-tillage and N Fertilization: (II) Fumonisin Incidence on Kernels

open access: yesItalian Journal of Agronomy, 2009
Planting maize under no-tillage is an increasing farming practice for sustainable agriculture and sound environmental management. Although several studies on yield of no-till maize have been done, there is few information about the effect of tillage on ...

Use of Cold Plasma for Phytosanitation and Decontamination of Food Products: A Review

open access: yesFuture Postharvest and Food, Volume 2, Issue 4, Page 390-410, December 2025.
Applications of cold plasma in food industry. ABSTRACT Consumers are increasingly demanding healthy and nutrient‐rich food. Although conventional thermal processing techniques (pasteurization, sterilization, and blanching) ensure food safety and extend shelf life, they often negatively impact nutritional value and sensory quality, and they also consume

Antifungal Attributes of Lactobacillus plantarum MYS6 against Fumonisin Producing Fusarium proliferatum Associated with Poultry Feeds

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Fumonisins, being common in occurrence in maize-based feeds, pose a great threat to animal and human health. The present study is aimed at determining the antifungal activity of Lactobacillus plantarum MYS6 against a fumonisin producing fungus, Fusarium ...

Early Childhood Dietary Exposure of Aflatoxins and Fumonisins in Tanzania: Role in Child Stunting and Possible Interventions (2003–2024)

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 12, December 2025.
Childhood stunting is a major public health concern, and dietary exposure to aflatoxins and fumonisins during early life is associated with child stunting in Tanzania. The causal link between aflatoxin and/or fumonisin exposure and child stunting has been less well explained.

Gastrointestinal Degradation of Fumonisin B1 by Carboxylesterase FumD Prevents Fumonisin Induced Alteration of Sphingolipid Metabolism in Turkey and Swine

open access: yesToxins, 2016
The mycotoxin fumonisin B1 (FB1) is a frequent contaminant of feed and causes various adverse health effects in domestic animals. Hence, effective strategies are needed to prevent the impact of fumonisins on livestock productivity.

Real‐time CO2 monitoring for early detection of grain spoilage and mycotoxin contamination

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 105, Issue 15, Page 8985-8993, December 2025.
Abstract BACKGROUND This study aimed to compare the use of real‐time CO2, temperature (T) and relative humidity (RH) sensors as indicators of stored grain quality management, specifically for early detection of mould activity and mycotoxin contamination.

Analysis of Beer for Fumonisins

open access: yesJournal of Food Protection, 1995
Forty-one samples of beer were analyzed for fumonisins B1 and B2 (FB1 and FB2) using an immunoaffinity column cleanup followed by liquid chromatographic (LC) analysis. These samples included three later brand resamplings. All LC analyses were carried out using o-phthaldialdehyde/2-mercaptoethanol (OPA/MCE) and/or 4-fluoro-7-nitrobenzofurazan (NBD-F ...
