Spin in density‐functional theory [PDF]
AbstractThe accurate description of open‐shell molecules, in particular of transition metal complexes and clusters, is still an important challenge for quantum chemistry. Although density‐functional theory (DFT) is widely applied in this area, the sometimes severe limitations of its currently available approximate realizations often preclude its ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

A Dose‐Tailored Anti‐Plasma Cell Regimen Lowers the Mortality of Late‐Stage Cardiac Amyloidosis
A major obstacle to using current guideline‐recommended chemotherapy in patients with advanced light‐chain cardiac amyloidosis (LCCA) is their intolerance to standard drug dosages. The study aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of the dose‐tailored BD

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

There is a problematic treatment of field specific words in both general language dictionaries as well as specialised dictionaries, which in this paper is exemplified using the sports and fitness subject fields as the point of departure and focusing on ...

Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

On the disciplinary and functional status of economic lexicography [PDF]
Dictionaries of Economics in the broad sense of the word have existed in the European context for more than 300 years. The article shows how these dictionaries have been extremely flexible in their adaptation to the complex and ever changing needs of ...
