Sustained Therapeutic Efficacy of Intravenous Plasminogen Concentrate in Pediatric Patients With Type 1 Plasminogen Deficiency: An Analysis of Dosing Parameters and Clinical Outcomes

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Type 1 plasminogen deficiency (PLGD‐1) is an ultra‐rare autosomal recessive disorder caused by variants in the PLG gene and affects approximately 1.6 individuals per million. The condition is characterized by decreased plasminogen levels and impaired function, resulting in fibrin‐rich lesions on mucous membranes throughout the body.

Boosting Functional Regression Models with FDboost

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Software, 2020
The R add-on package FDboost is a flexible toolbox for the estimation of functional regression models by model-based boosting. It provides the possibility to fit regression models for scalar and functional response with effects of scalar as well as ...

Detection of Multidecadal Changes in Vegetation Dynamics and Association with Intra-Annual Climate Variability in the Columbia River Basin

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
Remotely-sensed Leaf Area Index (LAI) is a useful metric for assessing changes in vegetation cover and greeness over time and space. Satellite-derived LAI measurements can be used to assess these intra- and inter-annual vegetation dynamics and how they ...

The Role of “Adult‐Onset” Cancer Predisposition Genes in Pediatric Cancer: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Current literature estimates that 10% of pediatric cancers are caused by pathogenic or likely pathogenic (P/LP) germline variants in cancer predisposition genes (CPGs). Variants in CPGs thought to increase cancer risk exclusively during adulthood are referred to as “adult‐onset” CPGs (aoCPGs).

Health Literacy, Self‐Efficacy and Knowledge of Sickle Cell Disease Among Caregivers

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a hereditary blood disorder in which abnormal haemoglobin leads to severe anaemia, painful crises and organ failure. Caregivers’ health literacy (HL) – their ability to assess, understand and apply information, and interact with healthcare professionals – is crucial for managing children with SCD, yet ...

Smoothing and Differentiation of Kinematic Data Using Functional Data Analysis Approach: An Application of Automatic and Subjective Methods

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
Smoothing is one of the fundamental procedures in functional data analysis (FDA). The smoothing parameter λ influences data smoothness and fitting, which is governed by selecting automatic methods, namely, cross-validation (CV) and generalized ...
