Phytotoxic Effects of Bisphenol A on Growth and Physiology of Capsicum annuum L.

open access: yesHorticulturae
Bisphenol A (BPA) is a widely used chemical to produce raw materials in plastic production, which has led to its ubiquity in the natural environment and toxicity to both plants and humans.

Co-effects of m6A and chromatin accessibility dynamics in the regulation of cardiomyocyte differentiation

open access: yesEpigenetics & Chromatin, 2023
Background Cardiomyocyte growth and differentiation rely on precise gene expression regulation, with epigenetic modifications emerging as key players in this intricate process.

Fructose promotes ampicillin killing of antibiotic-resistant Streptococcus agalactiae

open access: yesVirulence, 2023
Streptococcus agalactiae (GBS) is an important pathogenic bacteria that infected both aquatic animals and human beings, causing huge economic loss. The increasing cases of antibiotic-resistant GBS impose challenges to treat such infection by antibiotics.

Predicting protein function with hierarchical phylogenetic profiles: The Gene3D phylo-tuner method applied to eukaryotic Genomes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
"Phylogenetic profiling'' is based on the hypothesis that during evolution functionally or physically interacting genes are likely to be inherited or eliminated in a codependent manner.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Statistical Indicators of Collective Behavior and Functional Clusters in Gene Networks of Yeast [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We analyze gene expression time-series data of yeast S. cerevisiae measured along two full cell-cycles. We quantify these data by using q-exponentials, gene expression ranking and a temporal mean-variance analysis.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Suppression of ACE2 SUMOylation protects against SARS-CoV-2 infection through TOLLIP-mediated selective autophagy

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
SARS- CoV-2 hijacks ACE2 for cell entry. Here, the authors report that dynamic SUMOylation modulates the TOLLIP-directed selective autophagic degradation of ACE2 and suggest SUMOylation inhibition as a potential intervention against SARS-CoV-2 infection.

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

Gene functional neighbourhoods as predictors of gene function

open access: yes, 2015
Roles of many genes in a typical genome are still unknown or only partially explored. Experiments that determine the gene function are expensive and time-consuming, necessitating development of novel computational methods to predict gene functions by using machine learning and knowledge discovery techniques.
