Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Accurate fundamental parameters of CoRoT asteroseismic targets

open access: yes, 2009
Context. The CoRoT satellite has provided high-quality light curves of several solar-like stars. Analysis of these light curves provides oscillation frequencies that make it possible to probe the interior of the stars.

A Homogeneous Catalog of Oscillating Solar-type Stars Observed by the Kepler Mission and a New Amplitude Scaling Relation Including Chromospheric Activity

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
We present a homogeneous catalog of global asteroseismic parameters and derived stellar parameters for 765 Kepler main-sequence and subgiant stars. The catalog was produced by reanalyzing all available Kepler DR25 short-cadence data using pySYD , an ...

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Absolute parameters for AI Phoenicis using WASP photometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Context. AI Phe is a double-lined, detached eclipsing binary, in which a K-type sub-giant star totally eclipses its main-sequence companion every 24.6 days. This configuration makes AI Phe ideal for testing stellar evolutionary models.

Absolute Calibration. IV. Use of G-type Stars as Primary Calibrators

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
We demonstrate an approach to determine spectral energy distribution (SED) templates that are accurate to the 1% level from the visible through the infrared for nearby (unextincted) solar-type stars. Our approach is based only on measurements of T _eff ,

Longitudinal circulating tumor DNA profiling in patients with advanced endometrial cancer using an off‐the‐shelf targeted NGS panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumour heterogeneity complicates precision management of advanced endometrial cancer. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a minimally invasive strategy to capture tumor evolution and therapeutic resistance. Here, we compare tumor‐agnostic NGS with tumor‐informed ddPCR, outlining their relative sensitivity, concordance, and clinical implications ...

X-Shooting ULLYSES: Massive Stars at Low Metallicity X. Physical Parameters and Feedback of Massive Stars in the LMC N11 B Star-Forming Region

open access: yes
Massive stars drive the ionization and mechanical feedback within young star-forming regions. The Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) is an ideal galaxy for studying individual massive stars and quantifying their feedback contribution to the environment.

Fundamental Parameters of Hot Subdwarf Stars from Gaia Astrometry

open access: yes, 2019
Asteroseismic modeling of pulsating hot subdwarf stars (sdBs/sdOs) and the investigation of eclipsing hot subdwarf binaries with low-mass or substellar companions (HW Vir systems) have contributed significantly to the list of sdBs/sdOs with known stellar
