Fundamental parameters of four massive eclipsing binaries in Westerlund 1 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Context. Only a small number of high mass stars (> 30 M-circle dot) have fundamental parameters (i.e. masses and radii) measured with high enough accuracy from eclipsing binaries to constrain formation and evolutionary models of massive stars. Aims. This

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Created in BioRender. Wikman, H.

The determination of fundamental parameters of CP-stars by spectroscopic methods: comparison with interferometry data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
В работе представлены результаты определения эффективных температур, ускорения свободного падения, химического состава, радиусов и светимостей двух СР-звезд (HD 188041 и HD 111133). Собраны параметры еще для восьми CP-звезд.

BSN. II. The First Light Curve Study of Eight Total Eclipsing Contact Binary Stars with Shallow Fillout Factors

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
This study provides the first comprehensive analysis of eight total-eclipse W Ursae Majoris-type contact binary systems. Ground-based photometric multiband observations were conducted at a Mexican observatory, and new times of minima were extracted.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Benchmark stars for mean stellar density and surface gravity estimates of solar-type stars

open access: yes
Adding an independent estimate of the mean stellar density, , as a constraint in the analysis of stars that host transiting exoplanets can significantly improve the precision of the planet radius estimate in cases where the light curve is too noisy to ...

Accurate and Model-independent Radius Determination of Single FGK and M Dwarfs Using Gaia DR3 Data

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
Measuring fundamental stellar parameters is key to fully comprehending the evolution of stars. However, current theoretical models overpredict effective temperatures, and underpredict radii, compared to observations of K and M dwarfs (radius inflation ...

Symmetry in fundamental parameters of galaxies on the star-forming main sequence

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society
ABSTRACT The Star-Forming Main Sequence (SFMS) serves as a critical framework for understanding galaxy evolution, highlighting the relationship between star formation rates (SFR) and stellar masses $M_*$ across cosmic time, for star forming galaxies.

Flow Enabled Target Capture Halbach‐based magnetic enrichment increases circulating tumor cell capture from blood in metastatic cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pair‐wise comparison of the CellSearch and FETCH enrichment technologies for circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from metastatic breast, prostate, and small cell lung cancer patients shows an increased capture of CTCs using FETCH enrichment. The clinical implementation of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) as a predictive tool for therapy efficacy in the ...
