An efficient synthesis of furanocoumarins
Tetrahedron, 1992Abstract An efficient synthesis of linear and angular furanocoumarins has been carried out starting from iodoumbelliferone derivatives. First synthesis of 6-iodoumbelliferone is described. The average yields are higher than those reported before.

Synthesis of linear diphenyl furanocoumarins
Proceedings of the Indian Academy of Sciences - Section A, 1976The elegant and direct synthesis of linear 2′-3′-diphenyl furanocoumarins is recorded for the first time by submitting the desyl ether of hydroxycoumarins to the action of mild 0·1 N KOH. This reagent brings about aldol condensation followed by cyclisation and dehydration in the presence of acids as proposed by Macleod and Worth to give the desired ...

Biosynthesis of furanocoumarins in parsnips
Phytochemistry, 1970Abstract Labelling experiments have shown that umbelliferone, and to a lesser degree p -coumaric acid, are precursors of bergapten, imperatorin, isopimpinellin and xanthotoxin in Pastinaca sativa L. C-2 and C-5 of mevalonate, which has been proposed as a precursor of two furan ring carbons and of dimethylallyl substituents, were both incorporated ...

Asian Journal of Organic Chemistry
AbstractFuranocoumarins are attractive targets in the synthetic organic and medicinal chemistry field because of their structural diversity and interesting biological properties. Herein, we describe the synthesis of furanocoumarin natural products from common furanocoumarin skeletons.

Leaf furanocoumarins of Heracleum lanatum
Phytochemistry, 1970Abstract Sphondin is the principal furanocoumarin of Heracleum lanatum leaves; pimpinellin, isopimpinellin, bergapten, xanthotoxin, isobergapten, psoralen and angelicin were also identified. At least eleven other furanocoumarins were present.

The Role of Dihydropsoralen in Furanocoumarin Metabolism
Canadian Journal of Biochemistry, 1973Trapping experiments with [2-14C]umbelliferone and 2′,3′-dihydropsoralen (DHP) administered to Ruta graveolens yielded negative results over metabolic periods of 5–24 h. Specific radioactivities of psoralen were comparable to those previously observed, but those of DHP were about two orders of magnitude lower.
