Furanocoumarins from the root ofAngelica dahurica

Archives of Pharmacal Research, 2000
Five furanocoumarins including a new one were isolated from the root of Angelica dahurica by repeated silica gel column chromatography. Their chemical structures were determined to be isoimperatorin (1), oxypeucedanin hydrate-3"-butyl ether (2), imperatorin (3), knidilin (4), and oxypeucedanin hydrate (5).

New furanocoumarins detected from grapefruit juice retentate

Natural Product Research, 2009
Grapefruit (Citrus paradisi Macf.) furanocoumarins and related compounds have been shown to interact with the enterocyte cytochrome P450, CYP3A4, and as a result they affect the bioavailibility of certain drugs. Only a few grapefruit furanocoumarins have been identified so far.

Bioactive furanocoumarins from stems of Clausena lansium

Phytochemistry, 2014
Clausena lansium Skeels, a member of the Rutaceae, is a shrub or small tree with grapelike fruits. Several parts of this plant have been used in folk medicine. A bioactive constituent investigation of the stems of C. lansium herein resulted in isolation of four furanocoumarins, claucoumarins A-D, and 13 known analogs.

Distribution of Furanocoumarins in Grapefruit Juice Fractions

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2005
The reported effects of grapefruit (Citrus paradisi Macf.) juice on oral bioavailability of certain prescription drugs have led to the discovery of the inhibition by compounds in grapefruit of cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) in the intestinal wall and liver.

Biofizika, 2004
Furocoumarins (psoralens) are photosensitizers of plant origin, which increase the sensitivity of biological objects to near ultraviolet (UV-A, 320-400 nm). In combination with UV-A, they are successfully used for treating many dermal and autoimmune diseases (PUVA therapy and photophoresis).

Mass spectrometry of some furanocoumarins

Canadian Journal of Chemistry, 1979
The mass spectra of two isomeric methoxyfuranocoumarins have been investigated using electron-impact ionisation. Unambiguous distinction between the two isomers is possible through a combination of conventional mass spectra with collision-induced dissociations of the molecular ions and of selected fragment ions.

An efficient synthesis of furanocoumarins

Tetrahedron, 1992
Abstract An efficient synthesis of linear and angular furanocoumarins has been carried out starting from iodoumbelliferone derivatives. First synthesis of 6-iodoumbelliferone is described. The average yields are higher than those reported before.

Synthesis of linear diphenyl furanocoumarins

Proceedings of the Indian Academy of Sciences - Section A, 1976
The elegant and direct synthesis of linear 2′-3′-diphenyl furanocoumarins is recorded for the first time by submitting the desyl ether of hydroxycoumarins to the action of mild 0·1 N KOH. This reagent brings about aldol condensation followed by cyclisation and dehydration in the presence of acids as proposed by Macleod and Worth to give the desired ...
