Deciphering the Photopolymerization‐Induced Nanostructures and Interface Formation for Submicrometer Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work reveals the UV‐curing‐induced monomer‐rich domain, oligomer‐rich domain, and entangled oligomer domain. The cured submicron films in stressed state induce interlayer nano‐wrinkle structures during the deposition of the second layer. Stress‐free cured films in relaxed state form non‐diffusive, diffusive and semi‐diffusive interlayer ...

Fiber‐Based Wearable Electronics as Adaptive Biointerfaces for Healthcare Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Fiber‐based wearable electronics have been extensively studied as adaptive healthcare biointerfaces. In this review, we classify and introduce fiber‐based systems according to biointerface design, conductive materials, transduction mechanisms, and healthcare applications, and provide a perspective on their translation toward reliable, continuous ...

Structure‐Property Relationships in Catecholamine Coatings for Broad Surface Functionalization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by mussel adhesive proteins (MAPs), six catecholamine molecules with different molecular structure were systematically characterized and compared based on their ability to form homogeneous, reactive coatings. Highlighting candidates capable of balancing coating properties of interest, their successful use as primer layers for organic and ...

Biodegradable 3D‐Printable and Coatable Antifouling Composites for Marine Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Marine biofouling damages submerged surfaces and raises greenhouse gas emissions. Biodegradable antifouling biocomposites were developed by hot‐mixing beeswax, Tween 80, and calcium stearate or stearic acid. Adjusting the component ratio enables processing via hot‐pressing, 3D‐printing, or dip‐coating.

Analog Classification of Human Hand Gestures Exploiting Dendritic Integration With an Organic Artificial Soma

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An organic neuromorphic architecture for the classification of human motor behavior is presented and validated. It performs somatic integration by linearly combining the activity from three muscles. An investigation of synaptic weights is presented and discussed in relationship with the classification performance.

HIV fusion inhibitors

Reviews in Medical Virology, 2009
AbstractDrugs based on amino acid sequence of Heptad Repeats of gp41 of HIV have been explored in search of anti‐HIV drugs acting by inhibition of the gp41 6‐helix formation and subsequent cellular infection. These are classified under a distinct discipline called HIV fusion inhibitors.

Development of HIV fusion inhibitors

Journal of Peptide Science, 2005
Abstract In the past 25 years, the worldwide AIDS epidemic has grown such that roughly 38 million people were estimated to be living with the disease worldwide at the end of 2003. The introduction of antiretroviral‐based therapies, beginning in 1987, has enabled many to live with HIV as a chronic, rather than terminal, disease ...

Pyrimidine containing RSV fusion inhibitors

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 2005
The knowledge of SAR in a series of biphenyl anionic RSV inhibitors has been broadened by synthesis and testing of analogs with pyrimidine linkers. Generally, pyrimidine compounds were much harder to synthesize, and their anti-RSV activity was lower in comparison with triazine analogs.

Salicylamide inhibitors of influenza virus fusion

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 2000
Structural variation of the quinolizidine heterocycle of the influenza fusion inhibitor BMY-27709 was examined by several topological dissections in order to illuminate the critical features of the ring system. This exercise resulted in the identification of a series of synthetically more accessible decahydroquinolines that retained the structural ...

Inhibitors that target fusion

2007
The process of viral entry offers several advantages for drug intervention. Targeting extracellular events eliminates challenges in ensuring adequate drug delivery into cells. Disabling HIV before integration of viral DNA into host cells also prevents the potential for establishment of viral persistence in longlived cells.
