Gamma-glutamyl hydrolase and drug resistance

open access: closedClinica Chimica Acta, 2006
Gamma-glutamyl hydrolase (GGH) is a lysosomal enzyme involved in the metabolism of folates and anti-folates. It acts as an endo- and/or exo-peptidase to cleave gamma-polyglutamate chains that are attached to folates and anti-folates after they enter a mammalian cell.

Biochemical and structural properties of gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase from Geobacillus thermodenitrificans: An enzyme specialized in hydrolase activity

open access: closedBiochimie, 2010
Gamma-glutamyltranspeptidases (gamma-GTs) catalyze the transfer of the gamma-glutamyl moiety of glutathione and related gamma-glutamyl amides to water (hydrolysis) or to amino acids and peptides (transpeptidation) and play a key role in glutathione metabolism.

The effect of polymorphisms of gamma-glutamyl hydrolase (GGH) gene on methotrexate-induced toxicity in acute lymphoblastic leukemia

open access: closedToxin Reviews, 2015
AbstractContext: Acute lymphoblastic leukemia patients show differences in methotrexate-induced toxicity after treatment with this anti-cancer drug. Pharmacogenetics is an important determining factor for toxicity diversity. Objective: In this study, the effect of +452 CT and ˗ 401CT polymorphisms of Gamma-glutamyl hydrolase (GGH) gene on methotrexate ...

Overexpression of gamma glutamyl hydrolase predicts extranodal extension in squamous cell carcinoma of the oral cavity

open access: closedOral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology and Oral Radiology, 2022
Extranodal extension (ENE) is an important prognostic factor in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). However, ENE is only confirmed postoperatively by histologic assessment of the lymph nodes after neck dissection. Accurate identification of ENE preoperatively would help in management of OSCC.We determined the expression of molecular markers gamma ...

The Identification of Gamma-Glutamyl Hydrolase in Uterine Corpus Endometrial Carcinoma: a Predictive Model and Machine Learning

open access: closedReproductive Sciences, 2023
Poor neoplastic differentiation contributes to the rapid progression of uterine corpus endometrial carcinoma (UCEC). Thus, it is essential to identify candidate genes, clarifying the carcinogenesis and progression of UCEC.We screened genes that affect differentiation and prognosis in UCEC.
