Murine Gammaherpesvirus-Associated Tumorigenesis

2011
Murine gammaherpesvirus 68 (MHV68, also known as γHV68 and MHV4) infection of mice has been extensively exploited to characterize basic aspects of gammaherpesvirus pathogenesis. In this chapter, we primarily focus on studies pertaining to MHV68 infection and its association with the development of lymphoma.

Immune Mechanisms in Murine Gammaherpesvirus-68 Infection

Viral Immunology, 2005
The murine gamma-herpesvirus-68 (MHV-68) is a relative of the Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) and Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) that infects mice. All these gamma-herpesviruses are subject to immune control, but limit the impact of this control through immune evasion. Molecular evasion mechanisms have been described in abundance.

Animal Models of Human Gammaherpesvirus Infections

2018
Humans are the only natural host of both Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV), and this strict host tropism has hampered the development of animal models of these human gammaherpesviruses. To overcome this difficulty and develop useful models for these viruses, three main approaches have been employed: first ...

Detection of a novel bat gammaherpesvirus in Hungary

Acta Veterinaria Hungarica, 2008
This paper describes the detection of a novel herpesvirus in a Serotine bat ( Eptesicus serotinus ) in Hungary. The rescued animal showed signs of icterus and anorexia and died within a day, in spite of immediate supportive therapy. Autopsy confirmed the clinical picture by the major lesions observed in the liver.

Ovine gammaherpesvirus 2 vertical infections in sheep

Microbial Pathogenesis
Ovine gammaherpesvirus 2 (OvGHV2) is a Macavirus that causes malignant catarrhal fever (MCF). The Macaviruses inducing MCF share the 15A antigenic epitope and form the MCF virus (MCFV) complex. While transplacental OvGHV2 infections in ruminants are rarely reported, vertical infections in sheep are undocumented.
