Influence of UHV GIL access on transient recovery voltage of circuit breaker
The access of ultra high voltage (UHV) gas-insulated transmission line (GIL) affects both the transient recovery voltage (TRV) amplitude and the rate of rise of TRV (RRRV) of circuit breakers, which may endanger the breaking capacity of circuit breakers ...

Field Analysis of SF(6) Gas Insulated Cables and Its Application to Spacer Design
This paper describes the spacer design for SF(6) gas insulated cables. The maximum electric stress within the cable is calculated by a numerical method, and it is recognized that the breakdown voltage depends linearly on the calculated values.

Eco-friendly alternatives to replace SF6 in high voltage Gas-Insulated Transmission Lines: a comparative study [PDF]
This project focuses on the research of an eco-friendly alternative that could replace SF_6, which is a strong greenhouse gas, in high voltage Gas-Insulated Transmission Lines, reducing the environmental impact but at the same time maintaining the ...

Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.

Characterizing the Steady-State Performance of AC Lines Through a Dimensionless Universal Model
This paper revisits the AC power line model. Based solely on three dimensionless parameters, a universal electrical model is first developed, which is valid for any kind of power line (overhead, underground/submarine or gas insulated), irrespective of ...

The present study investigates recycling of NiTi shape memory alloys via vacuum induction melting. An ingot was synthesized from elemental Ni and Ti and subjected to three subsequent remelting cycles. Remelting increases process durations and impurity levels and adversely affects microstructures and functional properties.
