Delivery of DNA‐encoded vaccines and proteins in mice using cutaneous suction‐mediated transfection
Cutaneous suction‐mediated transfection in mice for delivery of DNA‐encoded vaccines and proteins. A critical limitation of DNA vaccines and other therapeutics is transfection in vivo to produce the encoded antigens or therapeutic proteins. Cutaneous suction‐based methods have demonstrated effectiveness in many animal models and have been successfully ...

Recent external radiotherapy requires precise localization of the target because advance in diagnostic imaging has made it possible to visualize a tiny tumor which would be curable with focused high dose irradiation. However, tumors in respiratory and bowel organs have been difficult to be given the high dose because of 1 to 3 cm movement during ...

Individual T/R Module Characterisation of the TerraSAR-X Active Phased Array Antenna by Calibration Pulse Sequences with Orthogonal Codes [PDF]
The PN Gating mode allows operating all individual T/R modules under most realistic conditions with the advantage that all modules can be characterised simultaneously.

Cell surface CD11c as a neutrophil aging marker molecule
Cell surface CD11chi neutrophils were more aged and had better phagocytic function than CD11c−/lo neutrophils. Transcriptomic analysis of CD11chi neutrophils and CD11c−/lo neutrophils in pediatric population showed that the most difference was seen in infants.

BCG vaccination potentiates oxidative phosphorylation in neonatal myeloid‐derived suppressor cells
BCG vaccination enhances oxidative phosphorylation in neonatal MDSCs, impairing their immunosuppressive function. It upregulates electron transport chain genes and mitochondrial activity, increasing ATP and oxygen consumption. Pharmacological OXPHOS inhibition partially restores suppressive capacity, confirming causality.

Recent insights into the molecular mechanism of ubiquinol oxidation by cytochrome bc1
The review reflects on the mechanism of the catalytic reaction in cytochrome bc1: the electron bifurcation that involves the separation of two electrons derived from the quinol oxidation to opposite sides of the enzyme across the membrane. This review summarizes the long‐standing effort to understand the mechanism of quinol oxidation catalyzed by ...

Global Rather Than Vertical‐Selective Saccadic Abnormalities in Progressive Supranuclear Palsy
ABSTRACT Objective To test whether vertical saccades are preferentially affected in Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). Methods PSP patients (n = 24) were compared to age‐matched controls (n = 94) and two degenerative groups (Alzheimer's disease, n = 20; Lewy body disease, n = 50).

Sequential Steps of CRAC Channel Activation
Interaction between the endoplasmic reticulum protein STIM1 and the plasma membrane channel ORAI1 generates calcium signals that are central for diverse cellular functions. How STIM1 binds and activates ORAI1 remains poorly understood.

The loops facing the active site of prolyl oligopeptidase are crucial components in substrate gating and specificity [PDF]
Prolyl oligopeptidase (POP) has emerged as a drug target for neurological diseases. A flexible loop structure comprising loop A (res. 189–209) and loop B (res. 577–608) at the domain interface is implicated in substrate entry to the active site.
