Elasticity of Diametrically Compressed Microfabricated Woodpile Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Modulus–porosity relationship is derived for woodpile lattices with struts under diametrical compression. The formula presented here that Young's modulus is proportional to the square of the volume fraction E˜ρ2$E \sim \left(\rho\right)^{2}$ is shown to be consistent with computations and laboratory experiments on 3D‐printed samples.

Enhanced Gauge Symmetry in M-Theory [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 1996
In this article we examine some points in the moduli space of M-Theory at which there arise enhanced gauge symmetries. In particular, we examine the ``trivial" points of enhanced gauge symmetry in the moduli space of M-Theory on $S^{ 1 } \times S^{ 1 } / { \bf Z }_{ 2 }$ as well as the points of enhanced gauge symmetry in the moduli space of M-Theory ...

Quantum Gauge Symmetry of Reducible Gauge Theory [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Theoretical Physics, 2017
We derive the gaugeon formalism of the Kalb-Ramond field theory, a reducible gauge theory, which discusses the quantum gauge freedom. In gaugeon formalism, theory admits quantum gauge symmetry which leaves the action form-invariant. The BRST symmetric gaugeon formalism is also studied which introduces the gaugeon ghost fields and gaugeon ghosts of ...

An Ontology‐Augmented Digital Twin for Fiber‐Reinforced Polymer Structures at the Example of Wind Turbine Rotor Blades

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A methodology for establishing an ontology‐augmented structural digital twin for fiber‐reinforced polymer structures dedicated to individual lifetime prediction, in this case, a wind turbine rotor blade, is introduced. The methodology resembles the manufacturing as well as the operation of the structure.

Ontologies for FAIR Data in Additive Manufacturing: A Use Case‐Based Evaluation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An ontology‐based approach for generating findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable data in additive manufacturing is explored, focusing on powder bed fusion. The article highlights the benefits of enhanced data findability and digital twin enablement, while addressing challenges like data integration complexity and the need for specialized ...

Non-invertible symmetries in finite-group gauge theory

open access: yesSciPost Physics
We investigate the invertible and non-invertible symmetries of topological finite-group gauge theories in general spacetime dimensions, where the gauge group can be abelian or non-abelian. We focus in particular on the 0-form symmetry.

Gauge-flavon unification

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
In this paper we propose the idea that flavons can emerge from extra dimensional gauge fields, referred to as gauge-flavon unification (GFU) analogous to gauge-Higgs unification (GHU).

Impact of Surface Roughness on the Yield Drop of Hot‐Rolled AZX311 Mg Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Rough‐surfaced AZX311 Mg alloy samples have significantly lower yield strength than polished ones due to stress concentrators forming at V‐notch irregularities. Surface profilometry confirms higher Ra values for rough samples. Highest hardness values were observed near scratched surfaces, indicating strain localization effects near the rough surface ...

Abelian dualities of N $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = (0, 4) boundary conditions

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2019
We propose dual pairs of N $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = (0, 4) half-BPS boundary conditions for 3d N $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 4 Abelian gauge theories related to mirror symmetry and S-duality by showing the matching of boundary ’t Hooft anomalies and supersymmetric ...
