Characterization of Cis-Regulatory Elements Controlling Repo Transcription in Drosophila Melanogaster [PDF]
The glial cells missing (gcm) gene has been identified as a master regulator of glial cell fate in the fruit fly Drosophila . However, the gcm gene is also expressed in and required for the development of larval macrophages and tendon cells, and lamina

Alx1, a member of the Cart1/Alx3/Alx4 subfamily of Paired-class homeodomain proteins, is an essential component of the gene network controlling skeletogenic fate specification in the sea urchin embryo [PDF]
In the sea urchin embryo, the large micromeres and their progeny function as a critical signaling center and execute a complex morphogenetic program.

Our study provides a comprehensive multi‐omics profile of aging, integrating proteomic, metabolomic, and metagenomic analyses across diverse tissues and plasma. We identified the synergistic amplification of the circulating complement system and tissue‐wide immunoglobulin accumulation as key molecular drivers of inflammaging.

Modularity and design principles in the sea urchin embryo gene regulatory network [PDF]
The gene regulatory network (GRN) established experimentally for the pre-gastrular sea urchin embryo provides causal explanations of the biological functions required for spatial specification of embryonic regulatory states.

MANF silencing, immunity induction or autophagy trigger an unusual cell type in metamorphosing Drosophila brain [PDF]
Glia are abundant cells in the brain of animals ranging from flies to humans. They perform conserved functions not only in neural development and wiring, but also in brain homeostasis.

ABSTRACT Poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PCL)‐hydroxyapatite (HAP) biocomposites were produced by thermal processing to test the impact of HAP addition on the physicochemical and biological properties of PCL. Two different HAPs: zinc‐modified and unmodified, were added to the polymer matrix to enhance their biocompatibility, surface properties, and antimicrobial

Characterization of transcription of genomic regions harboring HERV-W elements [PDF]
Human endogenous retroviruses (HERV) comprise 8% of the human genome and can be classified into at least 31 families. A typical HERV provirus consists of internal gag, pol and env genes, flanked by two long terminal repeats (LTRs).

Comparative analysis of dietary iron deprivation and supplementation in a murine model of colitis
Iron deficiency and anemia are frequent complications of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and patients are treated with oral iron supplements. To compare the outcome of iron‐deficiency or iron‐supplementation on the severity of inflammation, wild‐type mice were fed an iron‐deficient, iron‐adequate or iron‐supplemented diet.
