Who Lives in a Tin Can Under the (Ultrasonic) Sea: Sponges Made From Perfluoropyridine‐Derived Thiol‐Ene Polymerizations

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Tandem mechanochemical‐sonochemical for the strategic synthesis for 2,4,6‐trisubstituted derivatives of perfluoropyridine as bio‐based prepolymer materials. ABSTRACT Substitution of perfluoropyridine (PFP) in the 4‐position through an SNAr reaction is facile through mechanochemical methods, with yields in excess of 99% and short reaction times on a ...

Digital Deblurring of CMB Maps II: Asymmetric Point Spread Function [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
In this second paper in a series dedicated to developing efficient numerical techniques for the deblurring Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) maps, we consider the case of asymmetric point spread functions (PSF).

Valorization of Garcinia humilis Residues in Active Collagen/Starch Films for Biodegradable Packaging Applications

open access: yesPackaging Technology and Science, EarlyView.
Residues from Garcinia humilis were used to obtain a phenolic‐rich extract (GHRE) and incorporated into collagen–starch films. The addition of GHRE improved antioxidant activity, thermal stability and elasticity, while reducing water vapour permeability.

Model structure selection using an integrated forward orthogonal search algorithm assisted by squared correlation and mutual information [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Model structure selection plays a key role in non-linear system identification. The first step in non-linear system identification is to determine which model terms should be included in the model.

Resource Availability and Habitat Quality Drive Time‐Lag Effects in High‐Altitude Ungulate Distribution

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
Our analysis revealed that while climate strongly influenced species distributions, habitat change drove most observed delays in distribution responses. In terms of community ecology, dispersed communities exhibited shorter time lags than concentrated groups. Analyses of lag duration revealed a 5–6‐year distribution lag effect in high‐altitude ungulate

Global and local distance-based generalized linear models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This paper introduces local distance-based generalized linear models. These models extend (weighted) distance-based linear models first to the generalized linear model framework. Then, a nonparametric version of these models is proposed by means of local

Oxidative stress-regulated lentiviral TK/GCV gene therapy for lung cancer treatment.

open access: yesCancer Research, 2012
Nuclear factor erythroid-2 related factor 2 (Nrf2) is a transcription factor that regulates protection against a wide variety of toxic insults to cells, including cytotoxic cancer chemotherapeutic drugs. Many lung cancer cells harbor a mutation in either
