Prospective Assessment of Continuation of Erlotinib or Gefitinib in Patients with Acquired Resistance to Erlotinib or Gefitinib Followed by the Addition of Pemetrexed [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Thoracic Oncology, 2013
Patients with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutation positive non-small-cell lung cancer exhibited marked response to gefitinib or erlotinib. In most cases, however, the patients showed disease progression after EGFR-tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) treatment.

Cancer exosomal microRNAs from gefitinib-resistant lung cancer cells cause therapeutic resistance in gefitinib-sensitive cells

Surgery Today, 2020
Exosomes and their cargo microRNAs play a significant role in various biological processes in cancer. We hypothesized that microRNAs in exosomes secreted by gefitinib-resistant lung cancer cells might induce resistant phenotypes in otherwise gefitinib-sensitive lung cancer cells. We isolated exosomes generated by the gefitinib-resistant human lung ...

Resistance to gefitinib

International Journal of Clinical Oncology, 2006
Subsets of patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who carry somatic mutations in the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) have responded remarkably well to a tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI), gefitinib. Despite the dramatic response to this inhibitor, most patients nevertheless ultimately have a relapse.
