Parvovirus b19 DNA CpG dinucleotide methylation and epigenetic regulation of viral expression. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
CpG DNA methylation is one of the main epigenetic modifications playing a role in the control of gene expression. For DNA viruses whose genome has the ability to integrate in the host genome or to maintain as a latent episome, a correlation has been ...

A Novel Approach of Virotherapy Based Hsf-1 Shrna in Cancer Eradication [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Cancer is the second leading cause of death worldwide with continues rise mortality rate. Current cancer treatment modalities are still ineffective and associated with many side effects leading to robust research to find new specific target therapy. Heat

MicroRNA-29 family expression and its relation to antiviral immune response and viro-immunological markers in HIV-1-infected patients [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
BACKGROUND: Several in vitro studies suggested the microRNA-29 (miRNA-29) family is involved in regulating HIV-1 and modulating the expression of interleukin (IL)-32, an anti-HIV-1 cytokine.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Specific RNA structures in the 5′ untranslated region of the human cytomegalovirus major immediate early transcript are critical for efficient virus replication

open access: yesmBio
Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) requires the robust expression of two immediate early proteins, IE1 and IE2, immediately upon infection to suppress the antiviral response and promote viral gene expression.

Rainbow Kaposi's Sarcoma-Associated Herpesvirus Revealed Heterogenic Replication with Dynamic Gene Expression. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Molecular mechanisms of Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) reactivation have been studied primarily by measuring the total or average activity of an infected cell population, which often consists of a mixture of both nonresponding and ...

Stem-cell-based gene therapy for HIV infection. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Despite the enormous success of combined anti-retroviral therapy, HIV infection is still a lifelong disease and continues to spread rapidly worldwide. There is a pressing need to develop a treatment that will cure HIV infection.

A Human Cytomegalovirus-Encoded microRNA Regulates Expression of Multiple Viral Genes Involved in Replication

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2007
Although multiple studies have documented the expression of over 70 novel virus-encoded microRNAs (miRNAs), the targets and functions of most of these regulatory RNA species are unknown. In this study a comparative bioinformatics approach was employed to identify potential human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) mRNA targets of the virus-encoded miRNA miR-UL112-1.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...
