Gene silencing in plants

Molecular Biology, 2007
The review considers the cytoplasmic silencing of viral RNAs by short RNAs and the silencing of endogenous mRNAs by specific short double-stranded microRNAs. The role of some cell factors such as Dicer, Argonaute, RNA-dependent RNA polymerase, RNA polymerase IV, and pectin methylesterase is described in detail.

The silence of the ribosomal RNA genes

Cellular and Molecular Life Sciences, 2005
Over the past decade emerging evidence has indicated that epigenetic factors control and regulate nuclear processes. The genes encoding ribosomal RNA (rRNA) represent an ideal model to study how epigenetics and chromatin can modulate gene expression.

Gene silencing and toadflax

Trends in Plant Science, 1999
Cubas, P., Vincent, C. and Coen, E. (1999) An epigenetic mutation responsible for natural variation in floral symmetry, Nature 401, 157–161As an extension to their work on flower symmetry in model species, the authors have turned their attention to a naturally occurring mutant of toadflax (Linaria vulgaris) that was first described by Linnaeus >250 ...
