The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Applying aspects of generalizability theory in preliminary validation of the Multifacet Interprofessional Collaboration Model (PINCOM)

open access: yesInternational Journal of Integrated Care, 2008
Objective: Empirical assessment of the Interprofessional Collaboration (IPC) model within the framework of Generalizability Theory (GT). Design and participants: A multifacet data collection design served the purpose of examining the relationships ...

Generalizability Theory's Role in Validity Research: Innovative Applications in Health Science Education

open access: yesHealth Professions Education, 2020
Purpose: While generalizability (G) theory is widely recognized as a method for estimating the reliability (precision) of measures, its unique approach to partitioning and quantifying variance also yields validity (accuracy) evidence.

Investigation of ChatGPT and Real Raters in Scoring Open-Ended Items in Terms of Inter-Rater Reliability

open access: yesUluslararası Türk Eğitim Bilimleri Dergisi, 2023
The aim of this study is to examine the inter-rater reliability of the responses to open-ended items scored by ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence-based tool, and two real raters according to the scoring keys.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

On the Dependability and Feasibility of Layperson Ratings of Divergent Thinking

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2018
A new system for subjective rating of responses to divergent thinking tasks was tested using raters recruited from Amazon Mechanical Turk. The rationale for the study was to determine if such raters could provide reliable (aka generalizable) ratings from

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Generalizability and the Theory of Offsetting the Affective Filter

open access: yesGrounded Theory Review: An International Journal, 2013
When online, post-secondary foreign language learners wrestle with the course material and environment because of their inexperience or misguided expectations, frustration and anxiety often ensue.

Generalizability Theory Applied to Olympic Taekwondo Combats

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Human Movement, 2018
Introduction: Generalizability theory (GT) postulates that there are infinite sources of error variation in any measurement. Generalizability analysis is used to reduce and control this measurement error.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve
