The MHC class I genes of the rhesus monkey. Different evolutionary histories of MHC class I and II genes in primates

The Journal of Immunology, 1996
Abstract Homologues of the human HLA-A and -B MHC class I loci have been found in great apes and Old World primates suggesting that these two loci have existed for at least 30 million years. The C locus, however, shows some sequence similarity to the B locus and has been found only in gorillas, chimpanzees, and humans.

A trans-acting class II regulatory gene unlinked to the MHC controls expression of HLA class II genes

Nature, 1985
Class II (or Ia) antigens are highly polymorphic surface molecules which are essential for the cellular interactions involved in the immune response. In man, these antigens are encoded by a complex multigene family which is located in the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) and which comprises up to 12 distinct alpha- and beta-chain genes, coding ...

New class ll-like genes in the murine MHC

Nature, 1991
Major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I molecules present endogenous antigens to CD8+ (cytotoxic) T cells. MHC class II molecules present primarily exogenously derived antigens to CD4+ T cells. Three new genes (Ma, Mb1 and Mb2) located between the Pb and Ob genes of the murine MHC have properties indicating that they are members of the MHC class

MHC class I and class II genes in mexican patients with Chagas disease

Human Immunology, 2004
Chagas' disease contributes significantly to cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in several Latin-American countries. Previous studies have reported the effect of the human leukocyte antigen (HLA) molecules in the immune response regulation of Trypanosoma cruzi infection, and the association of HLA antigens with heart damage.

Mhc Class II Genes of Nonhuman Primates

1997
In humans the HLA-D region was originally discovered by use of the mixed lymphocyte culture (MLC) test. This assay is based on coculturing lymphocyte suspensions of two unrelated individuals and actually measures the proliferative capacity of T lymphocytes.

Molecular biology of murine MHC class II genes.

Critical reviews in immunology, 1992
The murine class II genes are contained in the I region of the major histocompatibility complex (MHC). In the mouse, there are seven class II genes: A beta 3, A beta 2, A beta, E beta, E beta 2, A alpha, and E alpha. The A beta and A alpha genes code for the two polypeptide chains that form the I-A immune response molecule. The E beta and E alpha genes
