Targeting Ras Genes in Kidney Disease
Certain changes in cellular function are characteristic of renal disease. Foremost among these is the excessive proliferation of cells, but other phenotypic changes include dysregulated apoptosis, migration, adhesion, contraction, secretion, and receptor expression. Recent advances in cell biology have revealed an extensive role for the small monomeric

Extensive sequence homology of the goldfish ras gene to mammalian ras genes
Differentiation, 1986We cloned ras-related sequences from goldfish genomic libraries constructed as recombinants using the lambda phage. Restriction enzyme mapping of the clones obtained revealed three kinds of ras-related sequences among approximately 350,000 genomic clones. One of these clones was partially sequenced. Comparison with the nucleotide sequences of mammalian

Ras-like genes and gene families in the mouse
Mammalian Genome, 1991Four human RAS-like cDNAs and a mouse genomic DNA fragment were used to define novel mouse Ras-like genes and gene families. Inheritance of DNA restriction fragment length variants associated with these genes in recombinant inbred and backcross mice allowed definition of 12 genetic loci, nine of which were mapped, to chromosomes (Chr) 2, 4, 7, 8, 9 ...

Conversion of ras Genes to Cancer Genes
1987The cellular precursor of Harvey and Balb sarcoma virus, termed proto-ras, from certain tumors registers most frequently as an apparent cancer gene in the gene transfer assay with NIH 3T3 cells [1–4]. The viral ras gene is a dominant transforming gene that elicits all features of oncogenic transformation in a single step upon transfer into established ...

Incidence of ras gene mutations in neuroblastoma
European Journal of Pediatrics, 1988Using a rapid dot-blot screening procedure based on DNA amplification and hybridization to synthetic oligonucleotide probes, we investigated 18 neuroblastomas in various clinical stages for the presence of ras mutations. In none of the samples was a mutation in the relevant codons 12, 13 or 61 of Ha-ras, Ki-ras or N-ras found.
