Assortative mating and the genetic correlation
Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1982The effect of assortative mating on the genetic correlation between traits X and Y is considered. Assortation on trait X changes the magnitude of the genetic correlation but not its sign. There are two situations depending on the signs of the correlation between mates (ρ) and of the random mating genetic correlation (θ): 1) if sign (θ) = sign (ρ), then

Are Genetic Correlations and Environmental Correlations Correlated?
Nature, 1970CORRELATIONS between different characters measured on individuals of a population have both genetic and environmental causes. In an extensive genetic analysis of the open-field behaviour of mice, which is a widely used index of “emotionality”, we have found that genetic and corresponding environmental patterns of association among pairs of characters ...

Genetic correlation in otosclerosis
American Journal of Otolaryngology, 1999The aim of this study was to determine the relationship of HLA typing in patients with otosclerosis. We used a prospective study in which HLA typing of 100 surgically confirmed otosclerosis patients were compared with age and sex matched normal individuals.HLA-A3, HLA-A9, HLA-A11, and HLA-B13 were found to be significantly higher (P < .05, .01, and .01,

Estimating genetic correlations
Annals of Human Genetics, 1980A method is proposed for simultaneous estimation of genetical variance and covariance components for quantitative characters and hence correlations and cross-correlations between relatives. It proceeds by successive approximations, which are not difficult to compute. Judging by examples, they appear to converge rapidly in practice.

Genetic correlations in validating emotionality
Behavior Genetics, 1990Sixty-six rats of seven inbred strains were observed in an open field (OF) and in a light-dark preference box (LDB). Each set of apparatus provides measures of locomotor activity and of the time spent in the "most protected" area (the corners in the OF, the dark compartment in the LDB). These measures are proposed to be indices of emotionality.
