Genetic parameters for fleece uniformity in alpacas

Journal of Animal Science, 2023
Abstract Fiber diameter is the main selection objective and criterion in alpaca breeding programs, but it can vary across anatomic regions of the animal. As fiber diameter is usually registered from a unique sample from the mid side of the body, fiber diameter variability within fleece is never addressed and phenotypic and genetic ...

Genetic parameters of neuroblastomas

Cancer Letters, 2002
Neuroblastoma is a malignant childhood tumor of migrating neuroectodermal cells derived from the neural crest and destined for the adrenal medulla and the sympathetic nervous system. The biological behavior of neuroblastomas is extremely variable and in some respects unique.

NEOCOGNITRON'S PARAMETER TUNING BY GENETIC ALGORITHMS

International Journal of Neural Systems, 1999
The further study on the sensitivity analysis of Neocognitron is discussed in this paper. Fukushima's Neocognitron is capable of recognizing distorted patterns as well as tolerating positional shift. Supervised learning of the Neocognitron is fulfilled by training patterns layer by layer.

Self-adaptive parameters in genetic algorithms

SPIE Proceedings, 2004
Genetic algorithms are powerful search algorithms that can be applied to a wide range of problems. Generally, parameter setting is accomplished prior to running a Genetic Algorithm (GA) and this setting remains unchanged during execution. The problem of interest to us here is the self-adaptive parameters adjustment of a GA. In this research, we propose

Band-structure parameters by genetic algorithm

Physical Review B, 1996
A genetic algorithm has been used to solve a complex multidimensional parameter-fitting problem. We will focus on the parameters of an empirical tight-binding Hamiltonian. The method is used to approximate the electronic energy band structure if energy values are known for a few wave vectors of high symmetry. Compared to the usual manual procedure this

Genetic parameters and genetic trends for reproductive traits in Egyptian buffalo

Animal Reproduction Science, 2021
Reproductive traits are important for farm profitability because failure to reproduce is the primary reason for culling animals. Study objectives were to estimate genetic parameters and evaluate the trends for reproductive traits. Age at first calving (AFC), gestation length (GL), postpartum interval to pregnancy (PPIP), calving interval (CI) and ...

Genetic Parameters for Testes Traits in Swine

Journal of Animal Science, 1984
Data were collected from 1,245 Duroc boars and 527 Yorkshire boars. This represents 128 Duroc and 57 Yorkshire sires. Body weights, testis length and combined testes width at 140 and 168 d were obtained. Of these boars, 432 were castrated at a later age to evaluate relationships between in situ measures and excised testis traits.
