Impact on Genetic Algorithm of Different Parameters

2008
Genetic algorithm is a highly efficient parallel evolution algorithm of the global search which is decided by the balance of the exploitation and exploration. This balance also depends on population size, the biggest evolution of algebra, coding length, crossover rate and mutation rate, etc., therefore, the set of evolution parameters for the search ...

Genetic parameters for eggshell traits in ostriches

British Poultry Science, 2012
1. A study was conducted on ~14000 ostrich eggs to estimate genetic parameters for eggshell traits that could benefit the hatchability of ostrich eggs. Traits measured included the number of pores on the eggshell, the average diameter of these pores, the total area of pores on the eggshell, permeability (pore area/shell thickness) and eggshell ...

Three interconnected parameters for genetic algorithms

Proceedings of the 11th Annual conference on Genetic and evolutionary computation, 2009
When an optimization problem is encoded using genetic algorithms, one must address issues of population size, crossover and mutation operators and probabilities, stopping criteria, selection operator and pressure, and fitness function to be used in order to solve the problem.

Genetic and Phenotypic Parameters for Sow Productivity

Journal of Animal Science, 1984
Data from 609 purebred Yorkshire, Hampshire and Duroc litters were utilized to obtain genetic and environmental parameter estimates for litter number and weight traits at birth, 21 d (first creep) and 42 d (weaning) considered as traits of the sow. Differences among paternal half-sib sets of sows were analyzed.

Optimization of Control Parameters for Genetic Algorithms

IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, 1986
The task of optimizing a complex system presents at least two levels of problems for the system designer. First, a class of optimization algorithms must be chosen that is suitable for application to the system. Second, various parameters of the optimization algorithm need to be tuned for efficiency.

Genetic Algorithms for Real Parameter Optimization

1991
Abstract This paper is concerned with the application of genetic algorithms to optimization problems over several real parameters. It is shown that k-point crossover (for k small relative to the number of parameter) can be viewed as a crossover operation on the vector of parameters plus perturbations of some of the parameters.

Genetic parameters of growth curve parameters in male and female chickens

British Poultry Science, 1999
1. Individual growth curves of 7143 chickens selected for the form of the growth curve were fitted using the Laird form of the Gompertz function, BW4=BW0xe(L/K)(1-e-Kt) where BWt is the body weight at age t, BW0 the estimated hatching weight, L the initial specific growth rate and K the maturation rate. 2. Line and sex effects were significant for each

Common parameters in genetic athymia and senescence

Experimental Gerontology, 1974
Abstract Immunoglobulins M predominate over immunoglobulins G in the sera of both, young nude mice and old C57B1. It is not clear whether the rise in the IgM/IgG and IgM/IgG1 ratios observed in the C57B1 strain beyond the first year of life characterises also senescence in other strains. Up to the age of 1 year at least, these ratios fall rather than
