Abstract This chapter covers the EU’s regulatory system on genetically modified (GM) food. It outlines the legal framework, its foundation, objectives and primary goals (sections 8.2 and 8.2.1), as well as the scope (section 8.2.2), and main requirements (section 8.3) of the GMO deliberate release and GM food and feed framework.
