Metabolome Diversity Enhances Resistance of Intertidal Clams to Thermal Stress

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
Meretrix species are widely distributed intertidal bivalves in China with significant ecological and economic importance, which are sensitive to thermal stress. Our results showed that thermal environments of clam habitats shaped metabolome diversity, which can enhance the resistance of intertidal clams to thermal stress.

Quantum‐Enhanced Weighted Gene Co‐Expression Network Analysis Reveals Regulatory Networks Underlying Sexual Size Dimorphism in Macrobrachium nipponense

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
A quantum‐enhanced weighted gene co‐expression network analysis framework integrating quantum amplitude amplification is developed to overcome sample size constraints in zoological genomics. This noise‐tolerant analytical strategy enables robust network reconstruction for non‐model species with limited biological replicates.

Associations of cannabis use, tobacco use and co‐use with brain volume: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesAddiction, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and aims Cannabis is the most widely used illicit drug worldwide and is often co‐used with tobacco, the leading cause of preventable death. Although cannabis and tobacco have distinct neurobiological actions, their associations with brain volumes are unclear.

Joint associations of recovery capital and polygenic risk with electronic health record observed remission and relapse in substance use disorder: Longitudinal evidence from the All of Us research program

open access: yesAddiction, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and aims Recovery capital and genetic liability may be related to substance use disorder (SUD) remission through psychosocial and biologic pathways, but their joint association with remission course remains poorly understood. This question is clinically important because people entering remission differ in recovery resources and ...

Type‐2‐Inflammatory‐Diseases Share Comorbidities, Molecular Signatures, IL4/IL13 Genetics, and Response to IL4/IL13 Blockade

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
Studies suggest that type 2 inflammatory diseases are driven by overactivation of the IL4/IL13 pathway, manifesting differently in distinct tissues. We performed quantitative analyses using several large independent datasets to explore the interrelation of type 2 inflammatory diseases based on co‐prevalence, genetic predispositions, and transcriptomic ...

Shotgun Metagenomics Reveals Skin Microbiome Composition and Function in Infant Atopic Disease

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
Deep shotgun metagenomics profiled > 1000 infant skin swabs in the VITALITY cohort. Distinct skin microbiome signatures separated AD alone from AD with allergic co‐occurrence. Early Staphylococcus enrichment preceded later AD with allergic co‐occurrence. FLG mutations and strain‐level analyses revealed host and microbial features linked to AD.

An Introduction to Genome-Wide Association Studies: GWAS for Dummies

Seminars in Reproductive Medicine, 2016
Although the genetic origin of many human diseases and phenotypes has been long and widely recognized, identification of the causative gene alleles has been limited, slow, and cumbersome. This has changed substantially with the introduction of genome-wide association studies (GWASs) a decade ago, fueled by studies and reference projects of human ...

Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) and post-GWAS analyses of impulsivity: A systematic review

Progress in Neuro-Psychopharmacology and Biological Psychiatry
Impulsivity is related to a host of mental and behavioral problems. It is a complex construct with many different manifestations, most of which are heritable. The genetic compositions of these impulsivity manifestations, however, remain unclear. A number of genome-wide association studies (GWAS) and post-GWAS analyses have tried to address this issue ...
