Sequence organisation and conservation at homeologous regions ln the recent allotetraploid coffee (Coffea arabica L.) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Coffee is one of the world's largest traded commodities produced in more than 60 countries. Coffee species belong to the Rubiaceae family and commercial coffee production relies mainly on two closely related species: Coffea arabica and C.

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

Acinetobacter Strain KUO11TH, a Unique Organism Related to Acinetobacter pittii and Isolated from the Skin Mucus of Healthy Bighead Catfish and Its Efficacy Against Several Fish Pathogens

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2019
The bacterial strain KU011TH was isolated from the skin mucus of healthy bighead catfish. The strain is a Gram-negative coccobacillus that is nonmotile, aerobic, catalase positive, oxidase negative, and nonhemolytic. Sequence analyses of the housekeeping

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

Unintended Side Effects of Transformation Are Very Rare in Cryptococcus neoformans

open access: yesG3: Genes, Genomes, Genetics, 2018
Received wisdom in the field of fungal biology holds that the process of editing a genome by transformation and homologous recombination is inherently mutagenic. However, that belief is based on circumstantial evidence.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...
