From Genotype to Phenotype II: RNA to Protein
2013This chapter explores translation, which is the mechanism by which amino acids are assembled into proteins according to information encoded in messenger RNA (mRNA). It takes place on ribosomes, which attach near the 5′ end of mRNA and move towards its 3′ end, positioning and linking amino acids according to the codons they encounter.

For constructing the high-throughput platform of sequencing the JEV whole genome, the two systems of multiplex primers for genotype I and III should be designed and used for detected the whole genome of genotype I and III JEV in the research. The two systems of JEV genotype-specific primers was designed based on the reference sequence of all the ...

HLA Class I and Class II Genotyping in Patients with Chronic Urticaria
International Archives of Allergy and Immunology, 2008Objectives: Chronic urticaria (CU) is a common disease in which pathogenesis is unclear and which is resistant to therapy. Recent investigations have indicated that autoimmunity plays a role in nearly one third of CU patients. The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between human leukocyte antigen (HLA) class I and ...

Pyrosequencing assay for genotyping of the Transcobalamin II 776C>G polymorphism
Scandinavian Journal of Clinical and Laboratory Investigation, 2007The 776C>G polymorphism of the Transcobalamin II gene is located in a GC-rich region and TaqMan real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) does not yield satisfactory genotyping results. We therefore hypothesized that a method based on DNA sequencing would be needed for this single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) analysis; Pyrosequencing technology was ...

Application of Markov chains to linked genes with interference. II. genotypic selection
Mathematical Biosciences, 1993The case of a selfing population and three diallelic loci under genotypic selection is considered. Expressions are obtained for the mean number of times that a process passes through a transient state, for the mean number of generations needed to reach an absorbing state, and for other interesting parameters.
