Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

GENETIC VARIABILITY, GENOTYPIC AND PHENOTYPIC CORRELATIONS BETWEEN ECONOMIC TRAITS OF MAIZE UNDER DIFFERENT DATES OF PLANTING [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Plant Production, 2005
New early 27 yellow three-way crosses of maize were evaluated at two planting dates (early and late). Genotypic and phenotypic variation, correlation coefficients, heritability in the broad sense and heterosis were estimated for six economic traits ...

Estimating and testing the effect of allelic recombination on the correlation between genotypic relatives

open access: yes, 2013
This paper provides estimates of the correlation between genotypic relatives and the effect of allelic recombination on the correlation assuming random mating. It is shown that the correlation is a non negative quantity and that allelic recombination has

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Inter and intragroup phenotypic variance.

open access: yes, 2012
Mean phenotypic value and variance of each group are calculated and plotted against mean genotypic value of the group. Errorbars represent intragroup variance.

Optimizing photoactivation of PA‐mCherry for optical pooled CRISPR screens

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Photoactivatable PA‐mCherry finds widespread use to optically tag individual cells. However, confocal 405 nm UV laser‐scanning (normal scan) is much less efficient than widefield UV illumination, limiting the use of PA‐mCherry on confocal instruments. We remedy this limitation by reporting that rapid and repeated confocal scanning with a low‐intensity,

The C‐terminal region of KIF26B is indispensable for nephron progenitor condensation and kidney formation in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KIF26B plays an important role in kidney development. We engineered mice lacking the C‐terminal region of KIF26B and found severe kidney defects, including bilateral renal agenesis, similar to full Kif26b knockout mice. The mutation disrupted nephron progenitor condensation and reduced Gdnf‐Wnt11 signaling, showing that the KIF26B C‐terminal region is ...

Clonal selection in S0 and S1 peach trees evaluated in a subtropical environment

open access: yesCrop Breeding and Applied Biotechnology, 2021
The aims of this study were to estimate genetic parameters, predict genotypic values, and analyze the genotypic divergence in S0 and S1 peach trees evaluated in a subtropical environment by the mixed model methodology.

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.
