Genetic Architecture of Cereal Leaf Beetle Resistance in Wheat
Wheat production can be severely damaged by endemic and invasive insect pests. Here, we investigated resistance to cereal leaf beetle in a panel of 876 winter wheat cultivars, and dissected the genetic architecture underlying this insect resistance by ...

BIGFAM - variance components analysis from relatives without genotype
Abstract Estimating variance components of phenotypes provides a fundamental basis for understanding complex traits. However, most existing methods require genotype data, which is costly to obtain and often unavailable, limiting their scalability.

Although mtDNA genotypic variance in somatic cells increases early during development due to cellular differentiation, according to recent findings this will only occur later in germ-line development, during folliculogenesis that takes place after birth.

Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

A study on the minimum number of loci required for genetic evaluation using a finite locus model
For a finite locus model, Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) methods can be used to estimate the conditional mean of genotypic values given phenotypes, which is also known as the best predictor (BP).

Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Finding novel vulnerabilities of hypomorphic BRCA1 alleles
Synthetic lethality screens performed to identify novel vulnerabilities often model complete gene loss, thereby overlooking patient‐derived hypomorphic mutations. In this study, we have performed genome‐wide CRISPR screens on BRCA1 hypomorphic mutations, showing BRCA1I26A behaves like wild‐type, while BRCA1R1699Q mimics deficiency. Furthermore, we have

How to deal with genotype uncertainty in variance component quantitative trait loci analyses
SummaryDealing with genotype uncertainty is an ongoing issue in genetic analyses of complex traits. Here we consider genotype uncertainty in quantitative trait loci (QTL) analyses for large crosses in variance component models, where the genetic information is included in identity-by-descent (IBD) matrices.
