Potential of genotyping-by-sequencing for genomic selection in livestock populations

open access: yesGenetics Selection Evolution, 2015
Next-generation sequencing techniques, such as genotyping-by-sequencing (GBS), provide alternatives to single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) arrays. The aim of this work was to evaluate the potential of GBS compared to SNP array genotyping for genomic ...

Some Techniques for the Measurement of Complexity in Tierra [PDF]

open access: yesAdvances in Artificial Life, Lecture Notes in Computer Science, 1674, 104 (Springer: Berlin) (1999), 2000
Recently, Adami and coworkers have been able to measure the information content of digital organisms living in their {\em Avida} artificial life system. They show that over time, the organisms behave like Maxwell's demon, accreting information (or complexity) as they evolve.

Integrating Dense Genotyping with High‐Throughput Phenotyping Empowers the Genetic Dissection of Berry Quality and Resilience Traits in Grapevine

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Researchers develop advanced tools to study grapevine traits like berry quality and stress resilience. A 200K SNP array and high‐throughput phenotyping enable the identification of loci linked to berry shape, sugar content, acidity, and cold tolerance. Functional validation of genes such as NAC08 reveals roles in cold tolerance.

Single Nucleotide Polymorphism Genotyping in Single‐Molecule Electronic Circuits

open access: yesAdvancement of science, 2017
Establishing low‐cost, high‐throughput, simple, and accurate single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) genotyping techniques is beneficial for understanding the intrinsic relationship between individual genetic variations and their biological functions on a ...

High Performance Solutions for Big-data GWAS [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
In order to associate complex traits with genetic polymorphisms, genome-wide association studies process huge datasets involving tens of thousands of individuals genotyped for millions of polymorphisms. When handling these datasets, which exceed the main memory of contemporary computers, one faces two distinct challenges: 1) Millions of polymorphisms ...

DNA‐PKcs‐Driven YAP1 Phosphorylation and Nuclear Translocation: a Key Regulator of Ferroptosis in Hyperglycemia‐Induced Cardiac Dysfunction in Type 1 Diabetes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the context of chronic hyperglycemia, a DDR is initiated, leading to the pathological activation of DNA‐PKcs in the diabetic heart. This activated DNA‐PKcs directly interacts with and phosphorylates YAP1 at Thr226, thereby increasing the nuclear expression of YAP1.

Cypiripi: exact genotyping of CYP2D6 using high-throughput sequencing data

open access: yesBioinform., 2015
Motivation: CYP2D6 is highly polymorphic gene which encodes the (CYP2D6) enzyme, involved in the metabolism of 20–25% of all clinically prescribed drugs and other xenobiotics in the human body.

Learning to Generate Genotypes with Neural Networks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
Neural networks and evolutionary computation have a rich intertwined history. They most commonly appear together when an evolutionary algorithm optimises the parameters and topology of a neural network for reinforcement learning problems, or when a neural network is applied as a surrogate fitness function to aid the evolutionary optimisation of ...

New powerful tools for epidemiological analyses of Xanthomonas citri pv. citri with a strong evolutionary aftertaste [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The aggravation of epidemic situations for bacterial diseases is often correlated with the emergence of new groups of strains, either because changes in the environment have favored such groups or because the strains themselves have evolved to become ...
