Germ cell tumor of ovary with plenty of sarcoid like granulomas: A diagnosis on fine needle aspiration cytology

open access: yesJournal of Cytology, 2012
Germ cell tumors of ovary with elements of two or more subtypes are relatively uncommon. Sarcoid-like granulomas are seen in rare association with dysgerminomas, a subgroup of germ cell tumors of ovary, which are again less common. Fine-needle aspiration

Fructose‐Based Single‐Chain Polymer Nanoparticles for GLUT1–Mediated Delivery: Impact of Polymer Design on Uptake and In Vivo Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Single‐chain nanoparticles have been proposed as drug delivery carriers, but adding a tail can significantly enhance their performance. This was demonstrated using a tadpole‐like structure comprising a head prepared from a UV‐crosslinked fructose‐based glycopolymer capable of targeting GLUT receptors, combined with a PEG‐based tail. Compared with other

Chemotherapy-Induced Depletion of OCT4-Positive Cancer Stem Cells in a Mouse Model of Malignant Testicular Cancer

open access: yesCell Reports, 2017
Summary: Testicular germ cell tumors (TGCTs) are among the most responsive solid cancers to conventional chemotherapy. To elucidate the underlying mechanisms, we developed a mouse TGCT model featuring germ cell-specific Kras activation and Pten ...

Zebrafish Germ Cell Tumors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Germ cell tumors (GCTs) are malignant cancers that arise from embryonic precursors known as Primordial Germ Cells. GCTs occur in neonates, children, adolescents and young adults and can occur in the testis, the ovary or extragonadal sites. Because GCTs arise from pluripotent cells, the tumors can exhibit a wide range of different histologies.

ERK‐Mediated Phosphorylation of YAP Defines a Noncanonical FGF Signaling Mechanism in Stem Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
With a powerful combination of in vivo, ex vivo, and in vitro models, the authors highlight a novel FGF‐ERK signaling regulation of YAP at the S128 site in neural crest‐derived stem cells. This study opens exciting new directions in stem cell biology and craniofacial biology, paving the way for potential innovations in the treatment of craniofacial ...

Canagliflozin Alleviates Diabetic Glomerular Endothelial Injury via Melibiose in a Microbiota‐Dependent Manner

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Canagliflozin treatment reshapes the gut microbiota in DKD and elevates levels of melibiose, a metabolite derived from Roseburia intestinalis. Melibiose directly binds to and enhances the enzymatic activity of glyoxalase 1, leading to decreased methylglyoxal accumulation.

Fertility-sparing surgery in advanced stage malignant ovarian germ cell tumor: a case report

open access: yesJournal of Medical Case Reports, 2017
Background Malignant ovarian germ cell tumor is a rare type of disease, which generally has a good prognosis due to the high chemosensitivity of this type of tumor.

Extragonadal germ cell tumors

open access: yesAnnals of Oncology, 2002
Germ cell cancer is the most common malignancy in men aged 15–35 years; 5% of the malignant germ cell tumors are of extragonadal origin [1]. An extragonadal germ cell tumor (EGGCT) is by definition a germ cell neoplasm displaying one of the histologies associated with gonadal origin, but located outside of the gonads.
