A gene conversion hotspot in the human growth hormone (GH1) gene promoter†
To assess the evolutionary importance of nonallelic (or interlocus) gene conversion for the highly polymorphic human growth hormone (GH1) gene promoter, sequence variation in this region was studied in four different ethnic groups.

Vermicomposting is a promising method for corn stover management to achieve bioresource recovery and environmental protection. Most β-glucosidases, which limit the cellulose degradation rate during vermicomposting of corn stover, belong to glycoside hydrolase family 1 (GH1).

Structural basis of the inhibition of GH1 β-glucosidases by multivalent pyrrolidine iminosugars [PDF]
The synthesis of multivalent pyrrolidine iminosugars via CuAAC click reaction between different pyrrolidine-azide derivatives and tri- or hexavalent alkynyl scaffolds is reported. The new multimeric compounds, together with the monomeric reference, were evaluated as inhibitors against two homologous GH1 β-glucosidases (BglA and BglB from Paenibacillus ...

A lncRNA promotes myoblast proliferation by up-regulating GH1
In Vitro Cellular & Developmental Biology - Animal, 2017Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are key regulatory factors for gene expression in a variety of biological processes; however, the role of lncRNAs in muscle formation and development is poorly understood, particularly in cattle. Here, we identified a highly expressed lncRNA in muscle, lncYYW, by high-throughput sequencing in bovine longissimus, scapular ...

Stereospecific transport of triidothyronine to cytoplasm and nucleus in GH1 cells
Molecular and Cellular Endocrinology, 1986We have recently demonstrated substantial stereospecific nuclear/cytosolic free triiodothyronine (T3) gradients within T3 responsive rat tissues in situ. These studies have now been extended to examine T3 transport in a rat pituitary tumor cell line, GH1.

The GH1/IGF-1 axis polymorphisms and their impact on breast cancer development
Breast Cancer Research and Treatment, 2006The growth hormone 1/insulin-like growth factor-1 (GH1/IGF-1) axis plays an essential role in the development of the breast by regulating cell proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis. Imbalances within this axis lead to an aberrant signalling and recent research has focussed on the overexpression of these growth factors and their involvement in ...

Cholera toxin affects nuclear ADP-ribosylation in GH1 cells
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1988Incubation of GH1 cells with cholera toxin for 24 h inhibits [32P]ADP-ribose incorporation into histones and non-histone nuclear proteins by more than 50%. The toxin produces a generalized decrease of incorporation into all protein acceptors and into the poly(ADP-ribosyl)ated components excised from chromatin after micrococcal nuclease digestion.
