Regulation of GHR endocytosis: Understanding the GHR-βTrCP interaction

Molecular Biology of the Cell, 2010
Upon binding of the Growth Hormone (GH) to the GH receptor (GHR) dimer, a multitude of signalling cascades are triggered that affect cell proliferation, differentiation, and metabolic pathways. The availability of GHR at the cell surface, and consequent responsiveness of cells to GH, can be modulated by tightly controlling the endocytosis of the ...

Stellar chemical abundances with the GHRS

Physica Scripta, 1996
The accurate quantitative analysis of high resolution ultraviolet spectra of ultra-sharp-lined early-type, chemically peculiar stars, obtained with the Goddard High Resolution spectrograph on the Hubble Space Telescope, has been made possible by the synergism between state-of-the-art astro-physics and state-of-the-art atomic spectroscopy. We illustrate

Cardiac Function in GHR–/– Mice

2010
The studies discussed in this chapter highlighted the role of GH signaling in heart function, cardiovascular disease, and glucose homeostasis. Interestingly, GHR−/− mice do not present major cardiovascular abnormalities, and their overall cardiovascular risk seems to be diminished, independently of their age and/or gender.

GHR Antagonist: Efficacy and Safety

2011
Pegvisomant is a GH receptor antagonist (GHR) licensed for the treatment of acromegaly. The story of the development of pegvisomant began with the recognition of the therapeutic implications of GH gene transgenic mice having a dwarf, rather than giant, phenotype and culminated in studies demonstrating its ability to normalise IGF-I in up to 97% of ...
