An unattended image‐processing pipeline for on‐the‐fly quality assessment and 3D exploration in cryo‐EM

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section D, Volume 82, Issue 8, Page 915-939, August 2026.
We present a fully automated, unattended cryo‐EM pipeline that serves as an on‐the‐fly diagnostic tool, enabling rapid data‐quality assessment and informed decision‐making to maximize data‐collection efficiency.Single‐particle analysis (SPA) by cryogenic electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) has become a cornerstone of structural biology; yet, the workflow ...

Recent Advances in the Molecular Mechanisms of Bacterial Anti‐Phage Defence Systems

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 19, Issue 8, August 2026.
Panoptes as an example for an antiphage system consists of OptS producing a cyclic dinucleotide that prevents activation of OptE, a transmembrane protein. Phage T4 infection introduces the sponge protein Acb2 that adsorbs the cyclic dinucleotide thus activating OptE which disrupts the cell membrane aborting phage infection.

Acute Myocarditis: From Pathophysiology to Risk‐Stratified Management—A Clinical Review

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Clinical Investigation, Volume 56, Issue 8, August 2026.
Stepwise approach to patients with suspected acute myocarditis, integrating the 2024 American College of Cardiology (ACC) four‐stage classification (Stages A–D) and the 2025 European Society of Cardiology (ESC) inflammatory myopericardial syndrome (IMPS) framework. Step 1 (Initial Assessment): clinical presentation, first‐line investigations (ECG, high‐

Clinicopathological findings, correlations and outcomes in patients with renal disease and living with antiretroviral‐treated human immunodeficiency virus infection

open access: yesInternal Medicine Journal, Volume 56, Issue 8, Page 1402-1411, August 2026.
Abstract Background and Aims Antiretroviral therapy (ART) has modified the incidence of renal complications and the patterns of renal disease in people living with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (PLWH). We reviewed (2011–2021) the progress and outcomes (follow‐up to mid‐2025) of 158 such individuals.

Machine Learning of Personal Repertoires From Public T Cell Receptors

open access: yesImmunological Reviews, Volume 341, Issue 1, August 2026.
ABSTRACT The T‐cell receptor (TCR) repertoire records an individual's immunological history, but most unique CDR3 sequences in any one person are private and uninformative about anyone else. A small subset, however, recurs predictably across unrelated donors.
