Glial fibrillary acidic protein and related glial proteins as biomarkers of neurotoxicity

Expert Opinion on Drug Safety, 2005
A variety of '-omic' technologies are being increasingly applied in preclinical safety assessments. Such approaches, however, have not been implemented in neurotoxicity safety evaluations. Current regulatory guidelines for assessing neurotoxicity emphasise reliance on traditional histopathological stains and behavioural testing batteries.

Glial fibrillary acidic protein in medulloblastoma

Acta Neuropathologica, 1981
Twenty-four cases of classical medulloblastoma and one case of desmoplastic medulloblastoma were examined for glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) using the immunoperoxidase method to assess astrocytic differentiation. In 16 cases of classical medulloblastoma GFAP-positive cells were present in variable numbers.

Glial fibrillary acidic protein in medulloblastomas

Acta Neuropathologica, 1985
Two cases of medulloblastoma are described which show positive immunostaining for glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) in many cells. The surgical and autopsy specimens were examined by the indirect immunoperoxidase method. Positive staining for GFAP was demonstrated in the small, round to polygonal cells in both surgical specimens and in the small ...
