Many patients with urothelial cancer do not benefit from treatment with pembrolizumab, while at risk of severe side effects. Changes in the levels of circulating tumor DNA early during treatment, measured by a simple and affordable assay that can be easily implemented in the clinic, can be used as a prognostic tool to identify these patients.

Tumor B‐cell infiltration in platinum‐treated advanced muscle‐invasive urothelial carcinoma
Bladder tumors with higher pretreatment memory B‐cell infiltration were linked to longer survival after cisplatin chemotherapy, but not carboplatin. These tumors also showed more organized immune structures (tertiary lymphoid structures) and a shared pro‐inflammatory B‐cell‐rich community, suggesting that memory B cells may help identify patients most ...

Global Optimality Bounds for ICA Algorithms [PDF]
peer reviewedIndependent Component Analysis is a popular statistical method for separating a multivariate signal into additive components. It has been shown that the signal separation problem can be reduced to the joint diagonalization of the matrix ...

Liquid biopsy‐based diagnostic evaluation of hypermethylated CpG sites for ovarian cancer diagnosis
This schematic outlines the workflow from biomarker identification to duplex MethyLight assay validation for epithelial ovarian cancer diagnosis using cfDNA‐based liquid biopsy. Initial screening of hypermethylated CpG candidates (cg02957270, cg10061138 cg00480298, COL2A1) was performed in tissue using ARMS‐PCR, COBRA, qPCR and image analysis. Selected

Optimization of mechanical structures using interval analysis
The problem of optimal design consists in finding the optimum parameters according to a specified optimality criterion. Existing optimization methods [25, 27] usually are not reliable or cannot use the nondifferentiable, not continuous objective ...

Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.

A Method for Semidefinite Quasiconvex Maximization Problem
We introduce so-called semidefinite quasiconvex maximization problem. We derive new global optimality conditions by generalizing [9]. Using these conditions, we construct an algorithm which generates a sequence of local maximizers that converges to a ...
