Dysregulation of miR‐21‐5p in diabetic nephropathy and its role in inflammatory response

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
The level of serum miR‐21‐5p was significantly upregulated in DN patients. The expression level of miR‐21‐5p increased with the aggravation of DN. Downregulation of miR‐21‐5p reduced HG‐induced cell proliferation. Downregulation OF miR‐21‐5P reduced HG‐induced levels of proinflammatory factors.

Associação de doença do anticorpo anti-membrana basal glomerular com dermatomiosite e psoríase: relato de caso [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
CONTEXT: Anti-glomerular basement membrane (anti-GBM) antibody syndrome is characterized by deposition of anti-GBM antibodies on affected tissues, associated with glomerulonephritis and/or pulmonary involvement.

Red blood cell distribution width is associated with renal tubular injury in individuals with type 2 diabetes

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Overview of this research and pathological hypothesis. ABSTRACT Aims/Introduction Red blood cell distribution width (RDW) is a parameter of erythrocyte volume heterogeneity that has been traditionally used as an indicator of anemia and other hematopoietic abnormalities.

Hyperfunctional complement C3 promotes C5-dependent atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome in mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS) is frequently associated in humans with loss-of-function mutations in complement-regulating proteins or gain-of-function mutations in complement-activating proteins.

Distribution of basement membrane antigens in glomeruli of mice with autoimmune glomerulonephritis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
peer reviewedGlomerulonephritis was induced in mice by the repeated injection of human glomeruli or purified glomerular basement membrane. The glomerular basement membranes of nephritic animals were observed to develop subepithelial extensions, "spikes."

Clinical implications of imlifidase interference in antibody screening and transfusion management

open access: yesTransfusion, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Imlifidase has received conditional approval from the EMA for desensitizing deceased donor kidney transplant recipients. It works by cleaving IgG into F(ab′)2 and Fc fragments, thereby reducing the risk of antibody‐mediated rejection. However, its impact on diagnostic assays remains understudied. Case Report We present the case of a

Regeneration and Experimental Orthotopic Transplantation of a Bioengineered Kidney [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Over 100,000 individuals in the United States currently await kidney transplantation, while 400,000 individuals live with end-stage kidney disease requiring hemodialysis. The creation of a transplantable graft to permanently replace kidney function would

Goodpasture’s Syndrome with Negative Anti-glomerular Basement Membrane Antibodies

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Case Reports in Internal Medicine, 2017
A young male patient with rapidly progressive and life-threatening pulmonary haemorrhage due to anti-glomerular basement membrane (anti-GBM) antibody disease without renal involvement repeatedly tested negative for serum anti-GBM antibodies.

Glomerular basement membrane disorders and the kidney

open access: yesMedicine, 2011
The glomerular basement membrane (GBM) is the vital barrier between blood and glomerular filtrate. Diseases that damage it generally cause haematuria initially, but as architecture becomes disordered proteinuria becomes an increasing feature. Inflammatory glomerulonephritis most commonly does this, but genetic abnormalities of GBM components are ...

World Association for Veterinary Dermatology Consensus Statement for Diagnosis, and Evidence‐Based Clinical Practice Guidelines for Treatment and Prevention of Canine Leishmaniosis

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, EarlyView.
Hyperkeratosis of (a) the footpads and (b) the nasal planum. ABSTRACT Background Canine leishmaniosis (CanL) due to Leishmania infantum remains common, and veterinarians do not always follow scientifically sound approaches for diagnosis, treatment and prevention. Objectives To provide consensus guidelines for diagnosis and evidence‐based guidelines for
