Modulation of glomerulosclerosis
Seminars in Immunopathology, 2007Regardless of the initial injury, the long-term consequence for the patient depends upon the ensuing balance of profibrotic vs reparative modulators activated. The glomerulus has some capacity for repair. Even when sclerosis has developed with accumulation of extracellular matrix, this lesion may be remodeled, with a change in balance between ...

Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis
Pediatric Nephrology, 1996Over the last 2 decades, we have learnt that focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) is a ubiquitous phenomenon underlying the progressive deterioration of many different types of renal diseases in both pediatric and adult populations. FSGS may also be the primary renal lesion, whether in new disease entities such as glycogen storage disease and ...

Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis
New England Journal of Medicine, 2011Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis accounts for approximately 20% of cases of the nephrotic syndrome in children and 40% of such cases in adults, with an estimated incidence of 7 per 1 million.(1) It is the most common primary glomerular disorder causing end-stage renal disease in the United States, with a prevalence of 4%.(2) The cardinal feature is ...

Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis
Annual Review of Medicine, 1984Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis is an important cause of the nephrotic syndrome in children and adults. This paper reviews the pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, morphology, and treatment of focal glomerulosclerosis. In addition, it considers the recently described association of focal glomerulosclerosis with nonglomerular renal diseases and the

Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis
The American Journal of Medicine, 1974Abstract In this clinicopathologic study of 16 cases of focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, the median age at onset was 21 years. Sixty per cent had persistent microscopic hematuria, 88 per cent had the nephrotic syndrome, and all had steroid-resistant proteinuria.
